I would rather teach in Thailand, but I want to teach in Bangkok. My idea is to get all the documents required for Thailand to search for a job for the 60 days that I have a tourist visa. If I do not find a job there, I would fly to Korea to find a job at a hogwan in the 90 days that I have available to search there. I fear that finding a full time job in BKK might be hard because I would arrive in June when the semester starts in May. I also have a desire to go to Korea, so that is my second choice. Would it be hard to find a job in Korea with my documents in hand in less than 90 days? |

I don't know the answer to this question, but I am interested to learn what more experienced people have to say. I'm considering doing this myself. |

That's entirely up to chance. No one can guarantee. |

As an American the OP can do a visa run to Guam.
Anyone else, it is a toss up for a first E2.
If you have had a prior E2 then your only loss is the airfare into Korea.

So I am guessing the consulate interview is still done? |

One question. What if an American applicant wants to do this but lives/has a job in another country like China or Japan? Can they do the visa process/interview for the E2 at a Korean consulate in the country they live and not have to go back home for that? |

You have always had the option of doing a first visa in the country you are "RESIDENT" in (as in, not on a tourist visa/stamp).
Skippy, they are not always required but MAY be asked for (currently about 30% of the time for north Americans).

Can you explain a little more? So if you've had an E2 before you can show up, find a job, and get an E2 in Korea? |

No but you can do a Visa run to a 3rd country like Japan. If you have never had the E2 it seems to be a lottery as to whether or not you will be issued a Visa in a 3rd country with the official policy (I think) against it but some Dave's posters claiming they managed it. |

ttompatz usually provides excellent information, but my personal experience is different. I got my first E-2 issued in Egypt.
Embassies in countries near Korea may be a bit more aware of E-2 visa law though than the embassy in Egypt. |

Nothing I said negated your experience or would even be different than your experience.
