details! What document? What country are you from! Any time frame issues to worry about.
Plus look back. This question is asked again and again.

You can't.
The process will vary depending on where YOU are from.

Actually you can! Well sort of. Maybe kinda.
I'm from the UK and I went through a company that did it all for me. I emailed them a scanned copy of my diploma, made an online payment and received the documents in the mail. I don't know if other countries have this 'method' but I dare say if you search through previous posts you should come up with an answer.
One more thing. If you take that method, it ain't cheap! |

Hello All,
All of this information is new to me, and I just don't know how it applies to me. I am American, and I have an F-2. I have been here over 7 years, and am leaving a job that I've had for 5. Shouldn't I already be on record at the MOE? Do I still need to get an Apostilled degree? I know I need the CBC, that process doesn't seem so bad, but my state requires a Notary in the room with someone at my Uni to authenticate my diploma, or something along those lines. How can this be done from Korea? The search function wasn't working so great, sorry for the repetition..
I'd especially would like to hear from any F-2s and your latest experiences with these new regs.
Thanks for your help in advance! |

As an F2 and as a teacher (not a university job) you will need to get a CBC and a copy of your degree (both) with an apostille for the MOE (NOT immigration).
Failure to get them may put your job at risk (get fired if you can't be registered at the POE) but won't affect your visa.
If you are NOT working as a teacher (hagwan, unigwan or k-12 school or k-12 after-school program) then it is not an issue.
The new rules go into effect early in 2012.

IF your contract is ending you do NOT need a LOR to transfer to a new job.
You can transfer anytime from the last week of your contract up until the expiry of your ARC.
If you don't have a new job lined up you can switch to a D10 (looking for work) and that will give you 90 days to find a new job without need for new documents.

Hi ttompatz,
Thanks for the response. Damn, so we even need it for an afterschool program as well? Might be in a little trouble, but we'll see what happens. Maybe it's time to go independent..
Again, if there are any other F-2s here having issues, I would like to hear about your experiences with the new regs. I think a lot of people have no idea, I know my co-workers don't know about them.. PM if you want.
Thanks.. |
