^ for the two messages above,
Thanks! Those were helpful. |
And the other ones weren't?
Or you were just upset with the truth? |
No, the truth is fine but these were more helpful. A blanket statement that I will not find a job is rather pointless. I have an interest in looking into some possibilities. |

I wouldn't call it pointless. I know the others weren't telling you what you wanted to hear, but it's helpful to know the truth. The EU-passport thing is a HUGE bar in Europe and most non-EU residents will be disappointed if they blindly go there looking for work, hoping a company will sponsor you for a visa. Unless you are very well qualified in an in-demand field, that's really not going to happen. Why? Because the company has to say that no one else in the EU can do your job. Just about the only way to "arrange your own visa" before applying is to marry someone from there.
I know you're set on the EU, but I think the other posters were being realistic about things and it's best not to just plug your ears the second you hear something you don't like. So, that passive-aggressive "well these posters were helpful!" reply was really not necessary. People are trying to help you.
I think your best chances are: getting a Canadian company to send you over there, or marry someone from there. |

Harsh mate, I said nothing of the sort. The advice I gave you was in good faith. I know loads of Aussies, Americans and Canadians here (7 of whom are in the 14-man dept I currently work in) and every single one either came via a spouse or an in-company transfer, I even asked them if they knew of any other realistic avenues to get a visa and they also said no. Would it have been more helpful if I had spun you some BS just because that is what you wanted to hear? |

| The Singapore government openly recruits foreign professionals (although I don't know if that includes urban planners and architects). I was looking to get a job there a couple years ago. Just spend a little time on Google and you should be able to get a few resources quickly. |

Sorry, had no problems with your posts. Didn't mind the other posts either...but really not providing me with what I wanted. I want routes to find the jobs. I appreciate that it will be tough. Thanks for your comments. |
