Does anyone think that the figures are lower than expected across the board? So the highest average is twice a week? Is that the best we can hope for |

I have searched the web for the actually study and I cannot find it. Does anyone have the link? I even checked Durex and the harris sites.
Seems like everyone is reporting from other news sources. |
Korean news sites aren't exactly known for having solid sources. I bet you I could post a blog tomorrow with "proof" that the world is flat, and the Korean news would report it as fact. |
You must understand our Dave's culture
A negative news story about Koreans is always fact (regardless of sources).
And a negative news story about foreigners is always false (regardless of sources. |

It wasn't so much that I didn't believe it or was trying to disprove it. I was just kind of curious of the overall study. I guess I should have known better with Korean news agencies. Thanks anyways. |

Well, I'm not too surprised at the findings. I can see Korean couple being less attracted to each other than say, Mexican or Portuguese couples. Koreans might be getting married more often (don't know for sure though, just guessing since people panic if they're not married by age 30) and will marry for more "practical" reasons, like money and status. Not necessarily someone they want to screw all the time |

SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Koreans are the least sexually active among people in 13 countries surveyed in an international online poll, a global pharmaceutical company said Monday.
Eli Lilly and Co.'s Seoul office said Korean couples over 34 have sex an average of 1.04 times a week, citing the survey based on data collected from 12,063 people worldwide including 1,005 South Koreans.
South Korea was the only Asian country on the list that was otherwise made up of European and North American countries.
Portuguese and Mexicans were the most sexually active, with couples there engaging in sexual intercourse 2.05 times and 2.03 times per week, respectively. The countries were followed by Romania, Austria and Belgium that ranked in the top five.
The survey also showed low frequency rates in Finland and Denmark where the results stood at 1.21 times and 1.10 times on average per week.
The U.S.-based pharmaceutical company, in addition, said 48 percent of Koreans experienced being rejected by their partners, which is much higher than the 33 average for all countries checked.
Reflecting this, Eli Lilly said 44 percent of South Koreans said they gave excuses, such as fatigue and exhaustion, to avoid sexual relations with their partners.
The latest findings, meanwhile, said only 8 percent of Koreans polled said they sought medical advice or treatment for sex-related problems, the lowest number among the countries surveyed.

Maybe because your typical Korean salary-man is probably not doin it with his wife at all. He's too busy gettin' it at the business clubs, after a soju drinking contest following overtime, unless they haven't had their kid(s) yet. Then she's getting some, but it's an entirely different some than from the business clubs. |

| The Koreans can blame overwork, cultural prudery, and prevalence of brothels. But what excuse do the Finns and Danes have? |

I've yet to meet a Korean girl that genuinely excites and keeps my interest. In general, their minds are so regulated by the most mundane surface concerns/notions of life, and so preoccupied with competing with other girls over how much their "boy" does for them, I just can't be moved to give them more than the time of day, really.
Yes, there are bound to be exceptions as with anything, but then of course they view themselves as extroardinary, which really just kills the mood.
Then when they realize they haven't gotten married by 30, they go into panic mode. Oh well, there's always plastic surgery...on its own won't keep the fire in the marriage down the road, 'tho. |

No any data show Koreans or Asians are having less sex than they used to , btw.
So it might be genetic, it might be Asians are like pandas, they are just not really into sex is all. (the number of red light district is not proportional to sex ability, imo) |

...that is certainly an interesting take on things there, Panda san...one that I have really not considered before...
I can personally vouch for the fact that Japanese girls are far more interested, active, and adept, however...must be the sushi...or the fact that Japanese lovers throughout bygone eras have been famous for literally dying for love, as well as being enshrined in something called shunga- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fAY9gBqjLs (ties in somewhat conveniently with your thread on art) Having said that, once they get married and bear children, apparently they have similar situations of inactivity. The common denominator may be the grueling work schedules and hyper attention given to children's educational specs.
And getting back to shunga, and the social/artistic/philosophical elements which gave rise to it, as well as other developments such as the Rinpa school http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Red_Prunus_Korin.jpg (Klimt's treasure trove of inspiration)...no, Korea, not even close. Is the level of a country's culture reflected in the sophistication (and hence attractiveness) of its people? I'd have to argue a very definite "Yes". |

This was a survey on married couples, not people in general. The age-old existence of brothels and prostitutes would strongly suggest that sex was/is prevalent, just not between spouses.
Or maybe you're right. Maybe Asian men are unique among all animal species and inherently lack sexual drives. Looks like you need to step in, sexy foreigner. |

I should have said "we are just not really into sex" because I am Asian.
I don't see there is any problem if Asian have less sex (ability, drives or whatever) than any other species.
1/3 Americans are willing to give up sex for their smart phone, so can the Korean couples give it up for their children's Hagwon education, its fair to me. |

You're using absence of proof as justifications for your assumption. Until there is any actual proof to back your claim up, I'll just consider you a strange individual who thinks sexual skill is a racial trait. |
