So I heard that F4 visa ppl DO need CBCs.

I got my CBC in August 10th, apostilled about a month later.

I'm waiting for my k-citizenship to get renounced, so that I can go in as a foreigner and get sponsored.. but they said it would take around 3 months. which means around MARCH.

So my CBC will get expired next year FEB 10th, RIGHT? 6 months?

How strict are they with an expired CBC? Will they let ONE MONTH slide? How about TWO WEEKS? A DAY??

It pains me to think that I have to get another apostilled CBC AGAIN... time/money hassle..

I think it's too early to tell as the rule doesn't go into effect until January. Hopefully, then someone can chime in.

The CBC for F-4s is a POE/MOE issue not an immigration one.

MOE/POEs now require every teacher regardless of visa class to submit a national CBC. If you are a teacher or going to be a teacher, you will need to one on file.

With that being said, generally, the rule of thumb is a 6-month CBC. However, depending on your school/MOE, they may let it slide. I know immigration requires a 6-month CBC, but your issue is with the MOE/POE. I'd check with whatever school you're planning to work for.

After many years I had finally figured out that MOE is Ministry of Education. Still trying to figure out what POE is. And, if my bird brain is correct, I think I have also seen SMOE.

Thanks.

I thought maybe that POE was: Pinistry of Education

And SMOE was: Sministry of Education

I tried internet search for POE. But it turns out it is the name of some dude who wrote books. And there were like a gajillion of hits for him. So, I dared not try to search SMOE.

And then there is EPIK and GEPIK.

I know that a GEPIK is a kind of lizard. Not sure how that relates to a native speaker of English teaching English in Korea.

And I know that EPIK is a long story. Maybe they prefer long resumes?

And I always thought that was a Gecko (like the place in Itaewon that is always full of lounge lizards).

One of my buddies has a f4 and has a couple of drinking tickets and they show up on his background check? Will he not be able to teach? It isnt anything violent nor is it a DUI. Just public intox is what he said.

Any thoughts?

1) I think they WILL show up on the CBC, I'm not too sure on this one. I know that any arrests (e.g. got finger printed) will show up but I don't know if any deferred adjudications pop up.

2) It should not ruin his chances at teaching because he is an F-4 holder. usually something on the CBC will make it really difficult to get an E-2 visa from immigration but in his case he just needs the CBC to register with the MoE and does NOT need it to get a visa. It might make it slightly harder for him to land a job, but I believe they are slightly lenient towards PI/MIC/MIP while a DUI/DWI is almost a deal breaker.

In the end, he just has to try and find out.

I got my F4 in the middle of December in Los Angeles, and I didn't need a CBC.

Yes you do not need a CRC to get F4. But if you want to teach you will need one! Immigration is not the one asking it is MOE. AndNO we are no talking the guy from Springfield or the leader of the stooges. We mean Ministry of Education.

If your F4 friend has a record. He will likely no be able to teach but he can tend bar or any other job.

He already has a job with a hagwon, but he is concerned that when it is time to renew, the MoE will not let him work. It's just a couple of drinking tickets, nothing serious, and he told me that he was never convicted. The arrests show up on his record though.

Do you think that the MoE will not allow him to be a teacher? That seems pretty ridiculous...

Thoughts?

Question - When would an F4 visa holder even be asked for these documents? The CBC has to be a national one from your home country, correct? Also, is the apostilled copy of your degree required?

What would be the punishment (for lack of a better word) if your school was audited and the MOE found out a teacher with an F4 visa didn't have these documents?

Can anyone provide a direct link to a government website that has this information? I have called the MOE, MOJ, and Immigration all day to get information for an incoming teacher who has an F4 visa but can't seem to get a straight answer from anybody. Sad
