ha ha i luv this logic, so if woman can carry tazers in there handbags guess who else can carry them around, rapists! robbers! teenagers!

its like the gun loby saying if mike tyson was raping ur sister wouldnt u want the right to have a gun? uh... id rather get beat up by mike tyson then get in a gun fight with him.

Well, I'm wasn't advocating tazers should be legal for regular citizens to carry although I wouldn't be against it. If tazers or any kind of weapon were physically available, criminals can acquire them illegally them while regular citizens can't through legal means. What I don't understand is the hatred for someone who just wants to know if it is legal to acquire a particular weapon to protect oneself.

Your argument is very strange man. If a guy was raping your sister and you knew you would have no chance in a physical alteration with him, you wouldn't pick up a weapon of any kind? Or You'd just let him rape your sister? Also, if my or my loved one's life was on the line, then I'd rather get in a gun fight with Mike Tyson than a fist fight. A guy like Mike Tyson can kill you with his bare hands. We aren't talking about street fights here, we're talking about potential life and death situations with criminals.

Get a stanley knife / box cutter. Get caught with it, say it's for a school art project.

I wouldn't carry a box cutter for self-defense. If you're gonna pull out a weapon, you need to make sure you're psychologically ready to use it, and you need one that will do enough damage to stop him. If you're gonna use a knife, get something strong and long enough to penetrate deeply. A box cutter is likely to break, it's won't cut or stab deep enough and with adrenaline pumping, he's likely to not even feel it until after. Also a man can force it out of a woman's hands and use it against her.

I'd say pepper spray to the face and run the hell out of there and try to call the cops ASAP.

if mike tyson was raping my sister i could stop him with my bare hands, i might get the crap beaten outta me but i could stop him. bring guns into the eqation and theres no telling who could be six feet underground. what dont u gun lobyists get about that?

I don't think incidental personal protection issues are the reason for the second amendment. It exists to allow ordinary citizens a fighting chance if they need to overthrow the government in the event it has become fascist or dictatorial.

The best bet is to carry your scooter/apartment keys whenever you're walking alone so that you can gouge the attacker's eyes or stab him in the soft tissue of his throat. Mike Tyson won't know what hit him.

You wouldn't really be stopping him then. More likely just delaying the inevitable and making him even more angry, which might make him go into a super-rape mode.

Tell your friend to carry around a rolled up copy of the US constitution. That'll cause the most havoc.

Or, just carry a broken glass bottle.

Criminals, i.e rapists, robbers, etc... can get weapons and usually have them. Why prevent a common citizen from protecting themselves? A taser allows a woman the chance to stun the attacker and the ability to get to a safe place.
With a taser there in no blood or gore.

We Americans love or personal defense weapons. True, but the Aussies, Brits, and Kiwis etc... love to be jealous of them.

For the benefit of the OP; Are there any self defense weapons available for the general public? Batons, asps, knives, stun guns (the ones you have to press into someone to zap them), etc.?

I have personally seen people selling switchblades of various shapes and sizes at bi weekly neighborhood markets and also on street corners near busy bus stops.

korea is very strict when it comes to weaponry of any type. you won't be finding tazers for sale to civilians that's for sure. i also wouldn't trust any of the market switchblades for tactical use that you find here. in fact a crappy switchblade that deploys out of the front is probably more of a danger to the user than to an assailant. i've been trying to get a nice assisted opening blade - not automatic - and they are almost impossible to find here and the legislature on them is very cloudy.

Chances are the weapon will wind up killing or injuring the owner or someone in their family.

Yeah, should I be getting jealous about that? When will the jealousy kick in? I'm waiting with an open heart, but it is just not coming to me.

A taser isn't killing anyone. Education and practice with it will make the handler and people around them safe.

So instead of risking your life by trying to stop a rapist from ravaging your sister, you'd rather get beat up and let him rape your sister? Gotcha. In my book, if you cross that line into rape/attempted murder, your death in the attempted defense action is completely justifiable. Honestly though, I think you can use a better example to back up your argument.

Incredible argument. I mean, how can anyone expect to refute this?

Let me guess...you're a [mod edit]. I thought this whole recently graduated uni supercillious clagnut baggin on Americas was done five years ago. Surely there are better ways to splint your puny ego while still sounding self-righteous and arrogant.

Yea, I'm the typical American that you hear about in the news. The 6'3 285 lbs southerner with a beard and scare people just by looking at them. I always carry a 5-6 guns, knives, handmade explosives and I have no idea how to use it. I make rash decisions with my weapons too, often pulling my guns on random people who aren't white screaming " GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY, LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH, CLOSE THE BORDERS, THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!" I'm not educated and have 12 kids with my wife in the trailer park where my mobile home's front is painted like the Confederate flag and I have a stock car in the front yard on blocks with 9 dogs sleeping under it.

My grandfather accidentally killed his little brother with a rifle, and my uncle shot himself in the foot. It was because of the lack of education about the weapons.

The internet is sometimes used as a bullying tool and people have killed themselves because of it. Should we throw out our computers? People die in car and plane accidents I guess we should confiscate and destroy them too?

Using the same argument, I think we shouldn't allow regular citizens to drive cars. I mean, look at how Koreans, Chinese and Russians drive. If people are going to irresponsible with dangerous hunks of metal, then the obvious solution is to keep everybody from using them.

So why do police services (trained, educated and practiced) in North America routinely have "accidental deaths" resulting from their use of this "non-lethal" weapon?

Only idiots and Americans feel the need for weapons to ensure their personal safety.
