|

Hello everyone,
I want to make a transition from China to Korea and in order to that I need to get a criminal background check done.
I'm having a frustrating time finding anyone who will do my fingerprints over here in China. The police stations all refuse to do it, and the only luck i have found is one company who is willing to do it for the equivalent of 200 USD. Honestly, I'd rather go to another country to get my fingerprints done for free than pay a service fee of 200 USD.
Could anyone who has transitioned from China to Korea give me a little bit of advice? Where did you go to get your fingerprints done? |

You can print out the standard fingerprint card on the FBI website and do your own. You can probably find a youtube tutorial or something on how to do it. I had mine done at a police station in Korea because they have the professional fingerprint ink. I don't know if regular inkpad ink is good enough. My suspicion is it might be fine but harder to wash off your fingers. |

Why ou making the change? If my current job doesn't work out I'm thinking of doing vice versa, Korea to China. |

My company might send me to Korea for a while. I need to start on my background check soon because it takes forever. |

Rutherford is correct. print out multiple sheets (I sent in 3 sets) and do it yourself. No extra charge and if one of the prints is damaged then they look at the other pieces of paper you sent in.Worked fine for me.
p.s. expect 2 1/2 months to get the CBC returned to you. The website says 6 weeks, but they sit on the envelope for a month before they start processing it. |

If you are not coming in as a teacher (E2 or E7) or an entertainer (E6) then there is no need for a CBC (unless you are using a Chinese passport).

I think its a legitimate question that would also apply to ESLers in China going to Korea. Some of you need to relax..lol. |
