So why do police services (trained, educated and practiced) in North America routinely have "accidental deaths" resulting from their use of this "non-lethal" weapon?
Only idiots and Americans feel the need for weapons to ensure their personal safety.

Correction: only blinkered philistines and jackasses would make moronic, hyperbolic statements about a group as ethnically and culturally diverse as Americans.
Are there other groups other than Americans that the TOS indicates are fair game for baseless, ignorant assertations? |

Rapist, bad drunks, and weirdos here seem to be much more able to commit crimes and get away with them. I've had a creepy gay dude even follow me home once. I've heard from women it's a big problem here despite the low crime statistics.
Heck, my korean friend told me muggings aren't uncommon here either. They don't target foreigners, just drunks though.
It's for a female, I'm not sure what the problem? I'd just import it from the states. |

Idiots are fair game (and no, I am not insinuating that you are one).
They were the other (first) target in my statement.
I also am pretty sure (backed by surveys and studies over the last 40 years or so) that in general Brits, Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis and the Irish don't generally feel any need to carry weapons for personal protection. It seems that as a general rule, the primary source of that stupidity is largely limited to America irrespective of their ethnic and cultural diversity.
AND since that appears to indeed be the case, then I raise my hand to being a "blinkered philistine and jackass".

Thanks for calling me an idiot.
There are accidental deaths from just about everything you can imagine. People are trained to use cars, boats etc.. and they kill people everyday. Should we ban them? Smoking kills many people world wide and nothing is done. They put a disclaimer on the pack that it can be bad for you and then it's people's choice. People are bad and you can't make people stop being bad by taking away a possible weapon. Criminals will get guns someway and then normal people are left defensless against them.
I come from a very small town in rural TN that is over run by meth, crack, cocaine, etc... People break into your house or steal your property or take your life for this stuff. If someone breaks into my house they get a gun in the face if they try to harm me I shoot them. If I have no gun it's gonna be a physical fight that some people can't, especially elderly people or most women, can't handle. Guns give an advantage to whoever has it and when faced with a violent situation where my health or family's health or life is at stake I wanna have that ability. |

I didn't call you an idiot. I said "Idiots and Americans" and since you clearly fit into the 2nd category then you may not necessarily fit into the first.
America; land of the oppressed, home of the gun nuts (thank you NRA) and one of the most violent places on earth - comparable to many states in sub Saharan Africa or the middle east in terms of violent deaths per day.
The ONLY G20 country where there are more guns than people and any (every?) major city has more murders in an average weekend than any of the other G20 countries (individually) have per anum.
You can argue all you want about the need for guns. America still remains the last bastion of that foolishness among civilized nations and you will find, almost universally, that when the topic comes up the ONLY advocates for personal possession of weapons are American.

Wow-
I used to have quite a bit of respect for ttompatz, until the "only idiots and Americans" statement.
I'm an American who does NOT own a gun; I don't know anyone who has, and I have never experienced any type of violence in the States--and I lived in Chicago, Philly, and DETROIT for some time.
I have however been assaulted TWICE by drunk Koreans since living here.
I however, would not make such a blanket statement like "only Koreans assault", even though that has been my experience. |

That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard on Dave's.
This from your extensive experience in top flight MMA/Boxing?

Unless he hits you first.....In which case your jaw is 20 paces away from your face.
"Hey Mike, mind standing still while I stab you in the neck with my keys?"
To say nothing of the fact that the guy has like, no neck....
But you do bring up a point, one of my friend's dad was a former police officer. He recommended his wife and daughter to carry plastic toothpicks in their pockets. Said they'd be easy to find in her pocket while the guy is on top, then take one and aim for the eye.... |

Floating--did I say assault/violence "Never Happens in the States?"
Uhh, no--Where did you get that?
I was simply stating that it never happened to me my entire 35 years living there.
I suppose it would have been better if I had been attacked, mugged, or even worse while living in the U.S?
Sorry to disappoint!! |

I love the premise of this thread. America, Brazil or Columbia is one thing, but there's no way you'll be allowed to walk around with a taser here you psychotic individual
Also it's going to be very difficult to hit Mike Tyson where you are aiming for him with a key in your fist. Even if you are fully committed to it and don't mind walking through a Tyson hook to land your own shot it will likely glance of his head or shoulder. You'd have to have a lot of balls to even attempt that with someone like Mike Tyson, even if he is in his 40s. That's assuming you both have the same hand speed. In all likeliness he's hitting you before you hit him
The most likely scenario is he knows what you are going to do (even if he doesn't see the key, most who don't know how to fight will throw a right hand hay maker first). It's not difficult for any professional boxer (and I mean at any level) to avoid this wild swing completely then answer back with a combination of punches. You have to understand the key makes no difference unless the punch lands, and until that happens you are in a fist fight with a guy who fist fights for a living
Still, the key is probably better than nothing |

Criminals, i.e rapists, robbers, etc... can get weapons and usually have them. Why prevent a common citizen from protecting themselves? A taser allows a woman the chance to stun the attacker and the ability to get to a safe place.
With a taser there in no blood or gore.
We Americans love or personal defense weapons. True, but the Aussies, Brits, and Kiwis etc... love to be jealous of them. |
Chances are the weapon will wind up killing or injuring the owner or someone in their family. |
A taser isn't killing anyone. Education and practice with it will make the handler and people around them safe. |
Let me guess, you're American? |
Yea, I'm the typical American that you hear about in the news. The 6'3 285 lbs southerner with a beard and scare people just by looking at them. I always carry a 5-6 guns, knives, handmade explosives and I have no idea how to use it. I make rash decisions with my weapons too, often pulling my guns on random people who aren't white screaming " GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY, LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH, CLOSE THE BORDERS, THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!" I'm not educated and have 12 kids with my wife in the trailer park where my mobile home's front is painted like the Confederate flag and I have a stock car in the front yard on blocks with 9 dogs sleeping under it.
My grandfather accidentally killed his little brother with a rifle, and my uncle shot himself in the foot. It was because of the lack of education about the weapons.
The internet is sometimes used as a bullying tool and people have killed themselves because of it. Should we throw out our computers? People die in car and plane accidents I guess we should confiscate and destroy them too? |
I knew it! Does your finger get itchy when you want to shoot a gun? |
