|
|
I know I can sleep in a couple of jjimjilbangs like the Silloam and Dragon's Lair (or a similar name) but can someone recommend a good PC bang to sleep for the night? One that is not too loud and has semi private cubicles. I believe the charge is about 1,000won per hour so that will be good for this budget trip.
Also, can people spend the night in a DVD bang and how much would that cost? Thanks. |

get drunk, walk to your nearest PC bang and pass out in front of a computer. nobody bothers you and it's 1000 an hour. |

sounds like a plan. But what about one with cubicles and comfortable reclining chairs? |

They're all the same....You'd have to shop around...I've done it before and I've never found it comfortable.
Don't expect a lounge with lazy boys and 2 ply blankets for warmth. |

DVD bang would be way too expensive. 15 bucks or so per movie. If you wanted to sleep over night, you'd need to line up 3 movies or so and pay all up front. For that money, you might as well get a love motel with a real bed, shower, etc.
Try a go-shi-won, like a short term mini-apartment. And I mean mini. Most are about the size of a large bathroom. But you get a bed, a shower, a tv, and wireless internet for maybe 20 bucks a night. Can't go wrong there.
PC bangs would suck. All the smoke and cursing of teenagers going on all night. Now way. Plus, they're usually freezing and the chairs aren't that comfortable anyway.
Try to find a multi-room or a plus-room. There's a more private than pc bangs and are usually used to play nintendo wii, playstation, or just use internet. I've never been, but I'm sure they're more than 1,000 and hour, but might be a happy medium between a pc bang and a go-shi-won. |

I took the subway late once and it stopped running at SNU station. There was a PC Bang walking distance from it and no one was smoking. Perfectly fine. Put your belongings under the desk and snooze.
I also would stay up all night at others and then take the earliest one home and crash then. |

DVD bangs sure got expensive. I mind only paying 8000 Won circa 2004. For napping purposes, rent something like Lord of the Rings. |

I've passed out at PC bangs many a time, usually for a couple hours after a night of heavy drinking while waiting for public transit to start up again. You just have to poke around a little bit to find one you like; the chairs vary in comfort, some cubicles are more enclosed than others, some are more smoky, etc. |

Why not just check into a hostel for the night. Only 18,000won with good facilities |

Always an option too, but if you're on a shoestring budget, you really can't beat the PC bangs.
If you're just looking to crash for a few hours while waiting for the subway/buses to pick up, a PC bang is best in terms of sheer cost. Anything longer than that, however, and it might be worthwhile to check into a sauna, which can run as cheap as 4-5K, but usually 5-6K, or a jimjilbang, which likely will start around 8K. The benefits to these are obvious: you can get a nice hot shower, sober up in the steam rooms, take a nice duke, stretch out on the floor, and keep your belongings in a locker. |

Also you don't need a reservation in advance for a PC bang.
I've done it before, and it's not the best sleep you'll get but it keeps you out of the cold. |

another vote for jimjilbang. If oyu are going to sleep for more than 5-6 hours they are way more comfortable and less expensive than a PC bang at 1000 an hour. Plus many of them have cheap restaruants inside and you get a nice fresh bath, a toothbrush, ect.. I have even been to some that had free internet. |

You guys are definitely right about the jjimjilbangs. The Siloam one was actually a decent sleep a couple of nights ago. Thanks guys. |

I paid 10,000 for a jimjilbang and found the experience rather disgusting. 20,000 or more in Suwon would be my standard.
I would bring my own blankets and pillow. |
