I recently got the Ipad two. Have wanted it since Ipads first came to Korea. Love the heck out of it. Beyond cool.
I have a smartphone, netbook, etc, so no real purpose for the Ipad except for taking it on trips. Love it! |

| ^^ I tested the tablets at the stores (Fry's and Best Buy) first before finally deciding on the Thrive. I actually chose it for its thickness and the rubberized back cover. I'm fine with the battery. Now, I'm thinking of getting the 32gb version for my husband - it's $100 off this week at Office Depot. |

| I saw the Thrive on danawa.com, a Korean commerce site, and it was around 600,000 won but I didn't check the specs. |

I own a Thrive and have use it for the past 4 months and find your report to be full of false conjecture. First of all what you claim to be bulkiness is one of the joys of the Thrive for me as it actually feels like I'm holding something instead of the thin fragile natures of other tablets. And the charge? I don't see how you don't think it holds a charge, when mine will pull close to nine hours regularly. Not to mention it be the only tablet with an interchangeable battery for the cases where you can't get to a charging outlet. Toshiba builds products that are built on research, and that's why I went with the Toshiba after owning two additional Toshiba laptops and being significantly pleased with their functions, their usability, and the features. |

Anyone considering to buy the large Galaxy Tab should spend some time in a shop (there's a dedicated Samsung store in COEX for example) just sliding screens and opening/closing apps to get a feeling of its responsiveness.
This is what actually made me decide NOT to buy one (even though I already had my VISA card between my teeth) - there's a noticeable lag between your action (finger slide) and the tab's response, not much but just enough to make me say "naah" and put it back down (then pick it up again, try some more, "naaah", repeat 2 more times because I really wanted one).
Apart from that, the specs are somewhat disappointing, especially the screen seems dull compared to their phone models and the iPad 2.
I really hate the way Apple forces me to use iTunes for certain basic tasks (say putting music on the iPad or iPhone) and I've avoided their products as much as possible (having been an iPhone user since the very first model came out), but the user experience is so much better than twhat the current Galaxy Tab can offer.
Too bad you can't run Android on iPad

I don't have a Thrive but I simply posted a link to someone who reviewed it (and it wasn't just some schmuck on the Net, either). And for your information, I have a Toshiba laptop that I'm very happy with.
As for the Galaxy Tab, hmm, I guess I might have to hold off on that. |

I understand where you got the link from, my point is that you can find negativists that will find simplistic faults in anything and everything. Even our beloved Toshiba laptops. |

Got my wife a chinese knockoff from:

It works really well and was only $80. It runs the android 2.2 os and has e-reader, wifi, etc. If we can get a couple years out of it then I will be satisfied. |

| Is the Nook from Barns an noble a tab? I really it like it though. Barns and Noble all but gave their consent to owners rooting it and putting Cyanogen Mod/MIUI/ even the android market on it. It is pretty cheap toy to play around with. 200 bucks. Not bad for email, the internet games and an e reader. |

I like how the Thrive dumps on the 'thin and light' obsession of Apple and Samsung for extra functionality.
For example, it has the best connectivity and best speakers of any tablet.
An iPad or Galaxy Tab might get you cool ratings in Starbucks, but the Thrive would be my choice if it's just a utilitarian tool I wanted. |

got the 7inch galaxy tab a few months back.
looked at the ipad but the screen was too big for me. galaxy fits in my coat pocket and i like the SD card and drag and drop function (plus avoiding itunes).
i'd have loved an ipad if there was a smaller size but happy with what i've purchased. don't know anything about toshiba/acer etc so i went down to the closest shop selling tabs and got one. |
