So, back in the summer, the bus fare was 900won. Since winter, I guess oil prices went up, and now it's an even 1,000won for a standard trip.

The thing is, I'm super OCD and I planned all my bus fare at the beginning of the month and put that exact amount on my card. And at some point between the last time I loaded my card and the time they raised the rate, I've come up with this 930won I can't get off my card. I tried getting the guy at the 7-11 to let me load 70won to get it up to an even 1,000won, but he wont let me. He said they can only load whole dollar amounts.

It's driving me nuts, to see that 930won every time I beep my card just staring at me. It's 90 cents I can't use. Besides being OCD, I'm frugal too. And having 93% of a fare on my card that can't be used is driving me nuts.

Help?

You are no longer going to use the card? Sell it to someone else for....drum roll....930 won.

standard fare went up? really? when did this happen? I could swear I only paid 900 for the bus to and from work today. I guess I'll have to pay more attention tomorrow...

Take a green local bus somewhere. It's 600 won.

Gyeonggi buses went up to 1,000 won a few weeks ago. Seoul buses are still 900 won. Don't know about the rest of the country.

Yeah, me too. I also take the bus to and from work, thought it was still 900.

On a mostly unrelated note, I've been stealing bus seats from ajummas like I'm Rickey Henderson lately. Get a good start and just slide in there.

You can use the card to pay for merchandise and food at some retailers. Go get something that costs 930 won, 1930 won, etc. and use the card to pay. Problem solved.

Okay, thanx for the clarification.

Perfect idea!
hmmm... why didn't I think of that? I use my card to pay for things quite often when I have no cash and don't feel like going to the bank.

I just hope that you didn't waste 930 won worth of caloric energy fretting over this. Doing the math that works out to about 900 calories.

Catch a taxi an wait til the fare hits exactly2930 won and ask him to stop and let you off. Otherwise, go to a store that accepts t-money as a form of payment and buy 930won of goods.
