|
|
Went out to buy a pizza for partners little brother the other night to find Pizza Hut is W35,000 for a takeaway large pizza with very basic toppings! Felt like posting a massive sign showing the price of a pizza at pizza hut in Australia hinting the rip off for a crappy fatty oil filled big piece of dough with 3 pieces of crappy meat. Honestly what a joke! I would expect a bottle of nice wine and 2 large pizzas (WITH ACTUAL TOPPING and not just 3 pieces of chicken and cheese) for that price! |

Ask the Missus to find a 'Pizza Maru' mate. You'll get an XL size with fancy toppings and special crusts etc for around 20K that will pee all over Pizza Smut's rubbish.

In defense of Pizza Hut, which is a significant step up from EMart's horrid pizza or the swill that Mr Pizza claims to be edible, I will say that I just ordered a large, 'takeaway' pizza with 'very basic toppings' --pepperoni--last week, and I paid about 13,000 [they give a discount for carryout orders]. Entirely fair price as far as I can tell. Can't match the Pizza School across the street for 5K, but the taste is several notches better |

This is the problem with the "premium" pizza marketing strategy which seems to be used by most pizza chains in Korea.
They charge double the money for insane amounts of mismatched toppings, weirdly filled crusts, all swimming in yucky streams of mustard and ketchup. Disgusting.
Korean pizza chains really need to take the focus off the toppings and get the bread base right first.....then 2-3 quality toppings. Bright orange pepperoni doesn't cut it!!
My default is the Mr. Pizza New York Special. |

They also put way too much meat on pizzas. I'm not just saying that because I'm a vegetarian but because most of the pizza I see has pepperoni, small slices of ham, bacon and ground up beef on it.
Again, go to Pizza School. Koreans are best at making Korean pizza. I just gave up on Western pizza here.
I <3 고구마 피자 (sweet potato pizza) with corn. |

Do all of you (the above posters) live in the sticks? Itaewon, in particular "The Crows Nest", "Pizza Peel" and "Hollywood Grill", has amazing pizza. |

Just checked, and a large pepperoni pizza is still under 20 000 won. Not sure what your definition of basic toppings is, but I assume if you avoid the usual sweet potato ring/pumpkin stuffed crust/blue cheese/still living lobster, you probably won't have any problem. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Pizza Hutt is considered gourment here. Jesus, in Bundang, foodcourt staple Ho Lee Chow is considered gourmet. And SPAM is a delicacy to be shared with loved ones during the holidays |

I think it's "Jabba the Hutt" and "Pizza Hut". |
