Korea has evolved a society based on dependence, a pyramid scheme whereby ajosshi sits at the top by virtue of his chance chromosomal allocation.
And all other people must work to serve his needs, from the cradle to the grave: his sense of entitlement knows no bounds. Left uncorrected by outside influence, this system reaches oppressive proportions, as exemplified north of the border.
This can only produce large numbers of spoiled, unskilled, ill-behaved males on a vast scale. |
Are you actually just suggesting that the oppressive dictatorship of the North is really just a prolonged episode of Adjosshi's gone wild?
If so.... LOL. That is ridiculous. |

Ignoring them is my favorite.
I was walking with my headphones in and some random adjushi decided he should start yelling at me for some random reason, I was listening to music and not what he was saying. When he finished his rant he said "eh?" a few times because I'm assuming he was hoping he had elicited a response. He eventually walked away as I at no point even looked at the guy. I grew up in Florida, no angry Korean guy is going to impress or intimidate me. |

North Korea is the natural result of Korean society without western enlightenment. A sort of shariah state whereby king ajosshi enshrines racism, co*kblocking, and enslavement of women into law.
SK would be the same were it not for UN intervention 60 years ago. |

Yes he is. Sadly it fits into his home brew of a hyperbole and wild simplification of Korean society as a whole. Makes for a neat, no thinking required, judgement package he can roll out in nearly every thread.
Well done don't ya think? |

Homer - earlier in this thread you commended the OP for ignoring verbal insults yet later in the thread you expressed an enjoyment of potentially seeing a Korean man beat someone up for verbally insulting him. Would you feel the same enjoyment if I beat up every Korean that insults me?
Defending Korea is one thing, but your double standards make you come across as pompous.
As adults, regardless of our nationality, we should have the maturity to walk away from verbal insults. |

Where does this take place? At North Korea's many clubs and bars filled with foreign tourists?
No chance that the South Korean people freely chose to progress from traditional practices? It's all because of the UN?
From what I understand from Communist dogma, and from what I've read, North Korea actually liberalized its women's rights laws earlier than South Korea. Communist dogma advocates for Gender equality to a much higher degree than say, Nationalist dogma. Also, and this is anecdotal, I've heard that North Korean defectors are rather appalled at the labor conditions of 3D workers and such, to a greater degree than their South Korean brethren. All that "Workers of the World" stuff. Also, according to defectors, unlike South Korea, there is no corporal punishment in the schools (of course say the wrong thing and its off to the labor camp).
I mean first off, the reason North Korea exists is because of a guerrilla movement during the Japanese occupation which followed Communist ideology.
And "Western Enlightenment" If Westerners were as enlightened as you seem to think they are, they would not have done the many things they have done over their history. I mean you have people alive today who lived under Colonialism, Imperialism, and Jim Crow. |

If you actually hold these beliefs about Korean society then I have to assume you are the kind of person that has quite the collection of tinfoil hats.
Though I suppose on some level putting people into work camps and threatening their entire extended family with death IS the ultimate co*kblock.
Maybe we've been viewing the situation wrong this whole time and nuclear arms were just part of Kim Jong Il's Friday night clubbing strategy.
I guess they ought to refocus the Six Party Talks from nuclear disarmament to the real problem: the North's repeated violations of the bro-code.
Seriously though, what you are suggesting is an insane hyperbole. |

My points stand.
The fact is that north korean women found to be pregnant from Chinese or non-korean fathers are forced to have brutal abortions. In this day and age, a few km to the north of us.
That single fact encapsulates racism, oppression of women and the annihilation of male competition all into one.
And thats without even touching on the other elements of the dystopia that alpha-ajosshi has created up there. |

I think people are taking issue with your assertion that North Korea is the standard bearer of Korean culture, not with your descriptions of what goes on there. |

The same stuff was happening throughout the peninsula before the arrival of western influence.
The yangban had enslaved and impoverished half the population. The NK regime is just a continuation of the same, except taken to more extreme conclusions thanks to modern technology. |

Yes, it was only the enlightened White man that could've traversed the world and provided the insight to non-Westerners to have meaningful lives [even while it meant looking down the barrel of a Westerner's gun while he was pillaging, plundering, raping, and murdering on your soil].
You're a joke, dude. I actually feel sorry for you. You clearly don't have your bearings straight. I hope you get the treatment that you need. |

So are you saying that when Korea started getting massive Western influence, say 1946, that Westerners were bringing ideas about no racism in the law and gender-equality?
Julius, in 1946 Jim Crow still existed, Father Knew Best, and the British still had the Raj.
Sorry, but respect for women is not a Western concept. Look at cultures that practice matrilocality and matriarchy for that. |
