Anyone else use Kakao talk much here?
I'm finding it pretty frustrating. Most of the time, when I send a message a little yellow 1 pops up and that means it hasn't gone through. It can take a few minutes or even hours for the other person to finally get it.
There's no warning for it either. I could be going back and forth with someone and then all of a sudden the message wont send. It's been happening more and more lately too.
Anyone know what's up? |

that little, yellow '1' disappears when the message is read on the other end. it doesn't mean it didn't send. if it doesn't send you get a red arrow with an 'x.' |

I don't have a similar problem in terms of messages taking hours to be sent/received by myself or the other party; at least not that I know of, and I use kakao a lot. But I have noticed that the newest update doesn't always alert me immediately when I receive messages, so I often have messages that have been waiting there, for however long, when I decide to open it up. When I do open up kakao they're there, but it seems like they've just been sitting there, without alerting my phone. Not sure what the problematic kinks are, I don't remember it being like that before I updated kakao, but hopefully a newer update will work it out. |

i actually thought the latest update has made it run a hell of a lot faster (on iphones at least). |

Keep in mind that if the phone shows the message to the person in a notification it won't show as read. They'd have to open up the app and read it in the conversation. So perhaps your message is getting delivered, they're seeing it, then replying later when convenient.
I occasionally have message send failures but it tells you when that happens right away. Also make sure to keep your phone on while it's sending. The iPhone app will send the message after you hit send and turn the screen off. But Kakaotalk needs to be active until the message is sent. (Not sure if that was the problem but I figured I'd chime in for people who might not know that.) |

Kakaotalk is a pretty nice app. I found another one that is pretty cool called "Weixin". It is a chinese app and therefore mostly Chinese people in Korea use it, but it has a really awesome feature not only of free text messaging, file transfer..etc, but also allows for free two-way voice communication, basically like a walkie-talkie. Works pretty great, even over international borders, sending voice messages with the push of a button. |

This is probably obvious but I'll put it out there. Kakaotalk works through Wi-Fi/3G connections so if the other person enters a no-net area, perhaps that's why they don't receive the message? |

On the topic of smartphone apps I'll throw out OTO for free international phone calls. It uses your local minutes and if you go over your free minutes charges you the same as a local call would. I used to use Skype but the call quality of OTO blows Skype away even if you have a WiFi connection and Skype over 3G is crap.
***Edit***
Sorry OTO is the name, and yes it's free.

lol at OP (sorry)
If you read the stuff that comes with kakao (I forget which tab it is FAQ?Help?Settings?) You'll read all about what the '1' means (It means it hasn't been read like someone else pointed out) and get other tips on how the program works.
It's great Then you can see who is ignoring you and your bf/gf has no excuses for saying their phone ran out of battery and they didnt get the message kekekeke |
