I was recently offered a position teaching online with Globalvcc and am wondering if anyone has any experience working with them? If you have, how long did your position last for and have you been paid on time (or at all)?
I have worked in Korea on and off for years so I am quite cautious when it comes to new jobs in Korea. The company seems to advertise for teachers frequently so I am wondering if it is worth my time to sign a contract and give it a go. |

I'm curious, too. I have seen the job listing and considered applying, but have been wondering if they're legit. Also, how much work/prep vs. pay... |

They sent me the contract for the position and the pay was lower than the one stated in their ad. They had it listed at $13-$15 per hour with a $1 increase every 3 months in the one we saw (and it was recent).
They offered me $11/hr for 3 x 20 minute classes (working 7PM - 11PM Seoul time, Monday through Saturday with no breaks) . After I read that the cherry on top was paying them $10 per missed class and sitting through absentee lessons unpaid I politely walked away That doesn't even go into the prep time and having to give each student who wanted it a 20 minute demo class free of charge for "assessment" >.<
If I wanted to work that much I would go back to Korea and at least get the free apartment and questionable access to pension, airfare, severance and health care. I guess it comes down to that $11 is too close to minimum wage where I live and is just not worth it. If I ever get stuck working in a coffee shop for that wage I'll at least get free donuts on occasion. |

I am doing a demo for them shortly. You have to pay 10$ for not showing up or when a student doesn't show up? How do they pay you? Thanks for the information! |

Hi z3371538,
You pay them $10 when you miss a class. As for pay it is issued once a month via PayPal. |

@oftenadrift: Thanks for the info! Definitely not worth it. The free demos were the clincher for me, but the pay is too low to bother, too. |
