|
|
Hello,
If I am able to get a daytime teaching job, I would really like to go to a Korean language school to learn the language after work.
I was wondering if anyone has done this, or heard of such a school (I can't seem to google one up).
If you have done it, what were the hours like, and how much were you able learn in your first year?
If you've never heard of anything like this, how did you go about studying Korean? |

Many of the university Korean-language programs have evening courses. Or you could go to a hakwon that offers Korean.
To save money, you could learn Korean from a university student for around 20,000 won per hour. I don't advise a language exchange because the Korean will get far more out of it than you probably will. |

Evening and weekend classes won't be too hard to find in Seoul, Busan, and some of the other larger cities. If you're in a smaller town you'll have fewer options. Self-study and/or private tutors are possible no matter where you end up. |

I really want to find out about language, dance, and taekwondo classes too! I work public school in the day. Anyone know of these classes in Suncheon? I'm good at grasping languages so any one of them is good enough. |

Ask your students.
Chances are that 1/2 of them take Taekwondo at someplace very close to your school. Probably the same with dance as well.
Language (Korean) study is a bit more difficult but most hagwons (that are NOT language academies) that have middle school classes with a focus on Korean; they will be too high for you - but the the hagwan may provide you with a 1-1 class if you ask and are willing to pay for it.

Cool! I'm a fast paced learner so I prefer to be in a higher level than my skill. I don't know why I didn't ask the students first -_- I did before I bought a phone... |

Thanks for the lead. I found Seoul National University has a language school in itself with evening course. But the difference in hours from the day course is substantial. 200 hours for the day course vs. 60 at night per season.
The course objectives for the night course are rather vague as well, where as for the day course you are told specifically what level of proficiency you can expect to acquire by the end of each term. I wonder how much one can learn in the night courses...
I'd like to take a look at what the hagwons have to offer. Any tips on googling those? |

The Seoul Global Center offers free Korean language lessons. It's in the Press Center building between City Hall and the U.S. Embassy. Sign-up now, first come first serve. I can't, they don't teach at any time I'm available
