I bought this game yesterday. I have a new system designed for gaming. But there is no way I can play this game. Battlefield 3 crashes all the time with no warning and no reason. I thought it might just be me until I went to this website:

http://getsatisfaction.com/battlefield3/problems/common

6000 other people, just on that forum, are having the same problem and EA has so far done nothing. They haven't even acknowledged there is a problem. Pretty shabby.

Save your money until those idiots actually produce a working program.

Works fine for me.

Have you updated your graphics card drivers?

Yes, before the game even starts there is a warning to update. Which I did. The point is EA should remove these bugs before they put the game on the market. Also, I played the BETA with no problems. They obviously buggered something up in the production program.

This.

Make sure that you downloaded the proper drivers and have them installed correctly.

On ATI cards it will not work at all if not running the newest drivers.

After updating it works fine for me. The game is super playable, especially considering it has some of the best graphics of any game out there.

Apparently the EA game servers were getting swamped:

"EA's official twitter feed is proof enough that many players are experiencing ongoing connection issues... with gamers complaining about lag, drop-outs, and Origin network problems. During an EA financial call, EA CEO John Riccitiello conceded that Battlefield 3 had experienced a somewhat patchy launch, saying "in terms of network services, we've had unprecedented peaks". Those "peaks" are due to the sheer number of BF3 players connecting. However, Riccitiello assured gamers EA "had a handle on it" and that the issues should be resolved this weekend."

I think I have fixed the problem. I haven't had any freeze-ups or crashes since I have done this and I have played on servers in Korea, Japan and the USA.

In Windows 7/Vista go to Start menu. Go to Accessories. Locate the command prompt shortcut and hover mouse over it. Right Click on the shortcut then select Run as Administrator.

* In the command prompt type this exactly:

bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500

Then hit enter.

This command increases available virtual memory. Why EA couldn't of told us this right away I have no idea. Lame.
