Thumbs-up for the Matiz. I owned a Matiz II BEST that was a great car. You can find them with low miles for under 3 million won! And the older Matiz original for under 2 million with low miles! Cheap repairs and taxes, too.

I suggest you check out www.encar.co.kr

Search in English or Korean, but prices are better in Korean (I think).

I've bought and sold cars off of there (with the help of my wife).

Encar is the way to go. Just find a dealer in your area.

Save money by registering for insurance on your own. The dealership will help sign you up the same day but it's more expensive for some reason. Perhaps they get a kickback.

And FYI, many ads from dealers are fakes, and the accident declaration paper is almost useless. Many accidents go unreported. Most used cars here have had an accident. Budget an extra 300,000 cash on top for hidden repairs you will find you need after purchase. Dealers in Suwon or Incheon are better. Used cars sold at the big Janghanpyeong shared-dealer car lot are a huge joke and a waste of time.

I've considered both Encar and the USAG guy at Yongsan. I'm looking for something around a 98, and honestly I don't really care about cosmetics. Just looking for something reliable for between 1.0-1.2

Aren't there a lot of extra fees associated with Encar? Commission costs and so forth?

Also, can I ask how long you had your Matiz and how the initial cost compared with the price you got for it in the end?

Thanks for the great info!
