Yeah, I'm one of those guys that likes to try and take care of his skin. I've been seeing this product advertised a lot, but can't find any reviews on it online. It's awfully expensive, but I'm willing to pay it if it really keeps a healthy and young look on my face. But if it has whitening products in it, it's a no go.
Anyone used it or know someone who has? |

| I think SK II is a Japanese brand and the products are tailored to asian skin types. If you are asian then I'd give it a go. |

Never said it wasn't a japanese brand, I said proctor and gamble owned it.
That said their international site uses white celebs to sell the product, like Cate Blanchett so it can't only be intended for Asian skin. |

Until fairly recently, SK-II was really only popular in Asia, and not well known in Western countries. However, things changed when U.S. Vogue published an article about the company in 2004, and shortly thereafter, they signed Cate Blanchett as their highly visible spokesperson. The choice of Cate Blanchett was a stroke of genius due to her cross-cultural appeal - I am sure there are millions of Asian women who view her skin as the absolute, supreme height of perfection, but she is also famous for her acting ability and her beauty in the Western world. Accordingly, Cate Blanchett has done quite a bit to raise the profile of SK-II, but I think it is still of limited appeal in North America. Holt Renfrew carried the brand for less than a year and then got rid of it (much to my disappointment). Currently, the only way to get it in Canada is to buy it from cosmetic shops in Asian malls such as Pacific Mall. Otherwise, you can order it from Saks Fifth Avenue or from Ebay resellers.
I have had more success with SK-II than I have had with any other skin care brand. (By "success", I mean that more than one product has actually worked for me and has not caused any breakouts/rashes/etc.) I suspect that it is due to the fact that SK-II products are primarily formulated for and tested on the Asian skin type, but also that they do not contain any synthetic dyes or fragrances. This is in contrast to Shiseido (another Japanese brand, much more well known in North America), whose products are heavily scented and often contain dyes. |
