Fellow Travelers,
Am going to India for 10 days. ( i know.. i'm hakwon, so EPIK people please don't remind me of your vast vacation days).
I fly into delhi and can't decide what route to take from there..
Would you recomend going down by varanasi and Khajuraho or going towards Jaisalmer and joduphr (of course either route would take me through agra.
Thanks for the advice! |

10 days is not a lot of time for such a big place. Where are you flying home from? Delhi?
Jaisalmer and many other cities in Rajasthan are really cool but it takes a lot of time to travel to them and back, with such vast distances, bad roads, and limited train routes (and don't bother with Jaipur...it's just a big tourist trap).
Perhaps your Varanasi route is the better of the two. |

i agree with the post above. Traveling in India can be challenging and with so little time, you might as well take your time. Delhi, Agra, Varanasi will certainly take up 10 days, if not more. |

10 days for Delhi - Agra - Varansi is a decent period of time.
We did Amritsar - Delhi - Agra - Varansi in 2 weeks and didn't feel rushed.
On such a short trip you probably don't want to risk being delayed waiting to get train tickets, so it may be an idea to pre-book them on cleartrip.

I would personally choose Amritsar over Varanasi (but can also see why one would choose the latter instead). You might be able to do them all in 10 days though. Maybe go immediately to Varanasi, spend two days there, take the night train to Agra, check out the Taj, then the next day go to Amritsar (an all day train), then a couple days in Amritsar before returning to Delhi.
Do the ten days include or exclude the two days going to/from Korea? |

first rule of india: stick to trains (no buses)
second rule of india: 10 days, travel very very light (small bag)
in 10 days you'd enjoy delhi, agra (one day/night only) and varanassi ... amritsa is also good, but in the opposite direction.
i'd only do 3-4 cities and enjoy yourself, rather than rushing. |
