Many gyopos struggle, too, especially the ones who actually have a brain. The slimey ones seem to do well but then again, playing it straight seems NOT to pay off in Korea.

Unless they had zero education or spoke no korean, most do pretty well or better than the average korean.

I've known a few korean ex-cons who moved to Korea and hold normal jobs...one is even wealthy now. Try that in the states right after 2 years in the joint.

Like I said, the slimey types can do well in Korea, which says something about the country, don't you think?

Quality prostitutes bring in big bucks. In korean, the market is saturated and young replacements around the corner always. Not to mention the reputation which topedoes marriage chances with anyone not broke.

Plenty of guys have a fetish for N. asian girls in the states.

As for the "strong" korean economy; it's great if your rich or have a successful company.

I've met very few koreans who speak of having wonderful jobs. Most of them are underpaid, over-worked, or not even paying benefits. Doesn't matter if their the 1% either.

A similar situation is in Japan. Plenty of young folks working future-less part time work all over the place.

Even the decent, good jobs have slave hours (9-12 hour work day). I've had friends be driven to tears due to the korean work environment

The only koreans I've met who said they like their jobs are gyopos, high paid freelancers, work for the us army as contractors, and some artists.

Whenever I tell koreans I want to have an office job here, they look at me like I'm retarded and give me a load of reasons why I'd be better off having the same job in the states.

Oh and case some folks are wondering. Yes, alot of the menial labour jobs like nail artist and star bucks barista are staffed with former college grads.

Engineer from a third rate school= Mototrcycle repair technician....assistant.

Suppose it makes sense. Haven't really dwelled on the topic I guess.

Not outlandish at all, as there are currently more English teachers here than GIs. And more than a few of those teachers were GIs in years past (including me). And many, if not most, of the other teachers have rubbed shoulders/met GIs here at some point. What is wrong with sampling the largest possible universe?

And I was by ROK Drop/GI Korea already, thank you very much......

Many women want money and status. The families will even groom their daughters to go out and get a rich guy, if she's pretty. Then she will poor on the charm, act sexy, and whatnot. She will try to squeeze money out of the guy and send it to her family.
