i have received my FBI background check. it's in a sealed envelope marked CONFIDENTIAL. it seems like it is this way for a Reason, but is it safe to open? does it have to be sealed, in order to get it apostilled? can i open it and look at it? i shouldn't have a rap sheet, but i am curious what it says/looks like.

You can open it.. It is confidential to you only. You will need to open it to get it apostilled anyway.

The "seal" that is required is a raised stamp over a stickernot the envelope seal. Feel free to open it.

seal? there is no seal. why do people not tell me this BEFORE i do these things? Sad

my recruiter told me to use a channeler but never mentioned a seal. i used a channeler, and told them i was applying for a SK visa, so why didn't they know, either?

apparent loophole, maybe???:

i write a letter attesting to the validity of the background check and get that notarized and then apostilled? Neutral

You might be able to swing it, but it's really up to chance. I'd send off for another, if I were you, but that's me. You might get lucky.

You're supposed to have the FBI affix its seal and have a signature of an official, as well, attesting that it is authentic. Then you get it apostilled. Sorry.

Just tell them your cat opened it when it fell through the letter box!
