Most courses are so tight that any slice or hook will invariably put you into an adjoining fairway. Half the players there have no idea of golfing etiquette.........

It can get dangerous. Several times I've had stray balls land very close to where I was standing without any warning whatsoever.

My friend's dad visited here. He nearly got hit a few times too, so he finally hit it back at them. Apparently it never happened again.

He had some interesting things to say about this place. He liked the food but called the trip an "anti-vacation".

LMAO!!! This place is just pure hell sometimes.

Yeah the golf thing is stupid.

They should just focus on Seoul. My friends and family who have come over for a visit really enjoyed the city. It has a lot to offer.

My mom told me something ridiculous like Wheel of Fortune offered a $15~18,000 trip to Korea- stay at the Lotte, play golf, and go to the beach.

Shocked

For $15,000 (even half that) I'd go somewhere with real golf and beaches.

Haha, why anyone would want to spend 15 large on a vacation to this trash pail is beyond me.

I thought that was mostly for the cheap hole in ones...off the course.

There are only about 10,000 golfers in Vietnam yet there are almost 100 golf courses, according to an article I read in the times awhile back. Those exist mostly for Japanese and Korean tourists. Not that the extracurricular activities you mention don't occur, but there is golfing as well.

Of course there's some golfing happening (...during the daytime). Wink

Hey NYT, don't you mean Screen golf, not Korean golf courses?

One is a poor facsimile of the real thing, the other is a computer game.

Haha, nice.

The Korean government must have donated it to the show.

I give credit to the Korean tourism folks.

They're always looking for a niche that will be popular with international travelers...I mean beyond the casinos, booze and call girls patronized by Japanese and Chinese tourists.

The golf angle is a stretch. I've golfed four courses in the ROK. It was ok but between the rush-rush attitude and low quality course management, it didn't add up to a great experience. Most middle of the road courses in Canada were 10 times better at one-fifth the price.

Better to push the booze, broads and betting theme, IMHO.
