I don't buy that survey. Russia 24, UK 9? Look at the life expectancy of those countries. UK = 79.4 for males, 65.5 for Russia. We all know they have a saying about never putting the top back on once you've opened a bottle of vodka. Russian guys would have to be doing a boatload of other unhealthy stuff to create that kind of gap. |

the thing about most of those european countries is that they drink daily but responsibly (to a degree). of all the countries i've ever experienced and been to, i'd wager to say that korea is the #1 drunkest country. when it comes to drinking there seems to be very little moderation here and lots and lots of bottles of soju for binge drinking. |

I have my doubts of the accuracy of that map though. It shows Korea to be a bit more sober, and Canada... I've known a handful of Canadians over the years, and I thought they drank a little more than that. |
So you're going to judge an entire country by the boozers who come to Korea? |

You read it the wrong way around. Russia was number 4, UK number 17. All of the countries are pretty heavy drinkers though. The difference between number 25 and number 2 is only from 3.3 gallons to 4.3 gallons, while Moldova had a pretty big lead at 4.8 gallons. |

As have I, I've been to Latvia twice, and the women are, um, wow. But it's important to note that almost 30% of the population of Latvia is Russian. That might up the numbers a bit. |

Not sure about overall alcohol consumption, though one quiz I did on sporcle.com had the Czechs at the top of the beer drinking race. Those quizzes have sources too, so who knows?
Ah here it is -

Aren't most people reading the results backwards? lol. Anyways when someone shunning a big drinking outing is viewed as a novelty... |
