Hello, was wondering if I could solicit advice from the netziens here. About 3 months away from the end of my first year, currently living on the outskirts of Seoul.

Essentially looking to reverse my position from a Hagwon teacher outside Seoul to a public school one inside. Any ideas of how I go about it? Good recruiters etc...?

My current Hagwon is fine but the directors fairly stringent with holidays and I'd also prefer morning work. I'm the only English teacher at my school too which can make it a little lonesome!

Is there a public school hiring season? Anybody know a good recruiter? Also is it easy to renew your visa? Do you need a new employer to do so? Any other good information regarding public schools would be helpful too...

Cheers

Most public schools hire for the beginning of the year (March) or the middle (September). I went through a recruiter for my public contract, but I have friends who have applied to schools directly and have had success. It's pretty easy to switch your Visa to a new school, once you have a contract in your hand...You don't have to reapply for a whole new visa unless your visa is cancelled and you leave the country.
