I discovered one in Ansan (Gyeonggi-do) but otherwise don't know of one.

The Ansan location is pretty fantastic, but I rarely visit Ansan, so do any others exist?

Web searches in Hangeul don't render much, just a couple youtube videos for the Ansan location.

E-Mart Traders is the same kind of thing. Total Costco rip-off...like shameless rip-off.

Some good deals though........24 decks of reasonable German beer for 33,000. Big bag of oven-ready frozen chicken wings or drumsticks for 15,000......all that beer and chicken goes down well on the weekend!

That looks pretty much the same as the Home Plus I go to at World Cup Stadium. (other ones in yongdungpo and mokdong) Is it supposed to be bigger and better than regular Home Pluses?

How do you know this? You've been to Homeplus extra?

I found it very unlike Costco. For example, I could buy 1 pair of chopsticks, 1 orange, and 1 bottle of Anderson Valley ale if I pleased. That's the same kind of thing as Costco?

Homeplus extra is modeled after Tesco Extra. It's not a "rip-off" of anything... because Tesco is Homeplus' parent company.

ha, alright. But you said it's the 'same kind of thing'. And it's not.

Anyway, that video was uploaded in December, so I'm wondering if Home plus decided to open their first 'extra' store in Ansan?

There are 3 Homeplus branches in Ansan:

586 Seongpo-dong, Sangnok-gu (상록구 성포동 586)

707-2 Gojan-dong, Danwon-gu (단원구 고잔동 707-2)

1077-1 Seonbu-dong, Danwon-gu (단원구 선부동 1077-1)

Homeplus EXTRA may be the grade the corporate management assigns to certain upscale branches as is the case in Ansan, but Extra has not formed a tier of its own, as opposed to Homeplus Express.

That was a Homeplus already. They just put an "extra" addition to it.
They did some construction there as well, but the building is the same size as before. I've never been there though just see it from the subway.

It's between "Hanyang Univ. at Ansan Stn. and Jungang Stn. on the light blue line.

Makes sense.

In that case, then, I'm wondering where else there are Home plus 'extra' stores, as like Jake_Kim put it, it's an upscale branch :) That word may sound pretentious, but in truth, the variety and quality of products I saw there surpasses what I've come upon at any other large marts in Korea.
