COSTCO has a large selection of alcohol and is cheaper than everywhere else. I would check there...

all of the scotch found here is both blended and severely lacking in the peat department. they will be awe-struck because the taste of burning firewood cannot be replicated in anything besides a good single malt. well unless you eat a piece of charged driftwood.
even most of the so-called scotch drinkers i know have never had the pleasure of drinking scotch from this area of scotland.
hand the whiskey drinker your gift, spout off some information about this type of scotch that you gleaned off of wikipedia and you will be elevated quite a few rungs in the "i like this guy, he's so smart" ladder.

take this knowledge and run with it, as you will become your boss' newest favorite pet.

And yet:

"A blended scotch whisky has swept aside all single malt rivals to take the prestigious Jim Murrays Whisky Bible Award for 2011."

...Ballantines 17-years-old has always been one of the worlds premier whiskies: its consistency over the years has been quite remarkable. But this year it just progressed that extra notch to leave all other whiskies in its shadow. This currently marks the epitome of great blending, indeed, great whisky: nowhere else can you find balance, texture, and content come together in such a sensual, graceful way. It really is the nectar of the gods, except even they might struggle to get to the bottom of its labyrinthine complexity. It needed something out of this world to see off the two Buffalo Trace whiskeysand this was it.

...and you can buy it a Lotte Mart (145000won/bottle). I buy it at the duty free for half that much.
