|
|
I have an interview in Busan and because of my winter teaching schedule I need to go and come back to Seoul within the same day.
I know that is not a problem on the KTX. However, my interview is at Pusan National University. According to the Busan subway map, PNU seems about 30-40 minutes away. However, my contact at the university is telling me it is about 70-80 minutes away, because I must walk for 30 minutes to campus when I exit the train.
That seems excessive to me. Are there no taxis? To the Busan people out there, does this make sense? The main campus looks so much closer. I am trying to figure out how to get there at a reasonable time, because everything will be tight with the train schedule.
Thanks! |

If I were you, first I would take an express bus, not a train. If you like train better OK. STILL once you get tp pusan take a taxi to the campus. Ask someone at PNU to send you in Korean in email what to give the taxi in Pusan to get you right to the door of the building you need.
Good Luck,

KTX to Busan station took me about an hour and half. I don't see how any bus could be faster. Taxi is your best bet when you hit busan. they are everywhere. |

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I checked the KTX schedules, and the trains seem to take about 2:45. Are the buses really faster? I need to leave in the afternoon and get there in the early evening, so I don't want to risk it. |

From Busan Station to PNU station should be about 45 minutes. From PNU station to the campus maybe 15 but the campus is large and on a hill so it could take a while to reach the building.
A taxi from Busan station should be faster unless the traffic is bad. If you have the time you could take the subway to PNU station and from there a taxi to the building. |

KTX to Busan Station then get on the subway (no line changes needed) to PNU. The University is about a 10 minute walk from the subway station. Then it depends where you interview is on campus.
Taxi from Busan station to PNU can be a big mistake if there is traffic (and on Busan, there is a lot of traffic) or it can get you there faster than the subway if the roads are clear.
Good luck. |

Well, I made it everyone, and I am back home in Seoul tonight, in front of my computer happy but exhausted. I taught in the morning, jumped on the KTX in the afternoon, made it to Busan late afternoon, and dashed for the interview. I took the train up to PNU, and then a bus up to campus.
And, I was offered the job today! So, all the craziness was worth it.
Thanks for your help everyone. |
