I'm going to be in Manila for a day, so I was thinking about stocking up on certain things because I assumed it would be cheaper there. I refuse to pay the ripoff prices for clothes found over here, so I hope the Phils is cheaper. I bought some contact lenses from Cebu a couple of years and the price was 20% of what it is here.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Clothes are a lot cheaper. But you wont find too much winter stuff. Electronics are expensive. Mall of Asia is worth a visit there. Not far from airport. Make sure you pay meter rate.

I almost bought a Nixon watch in Manila and Cebu but surprisingly, the Phils often charges just as much, and usually more, for imported stuff.

I'm not sure about contact lenses but I've noticed that imported stuff can cost the same in Asia.

Clothes and glasses = cheaper in the Phils.

Electronics = cheaper elsewhere for brand name stuff. Knock-off stuff is available and cheap.

Watches = hit and miss (brand dependent). Timex is made in the RP but they are not always the cheap varieties. Casio is more expensive than outside the Phils.

Not sure about dental work but I use disposable contact lenses, namely Proclear. I'll check the next time I'm there in the Phils.

I found most things not so far off from American prices in the big malls. Love shopping, but when in the Philippines I usually find I only come back with a whole lot of food items. Quality electronics are almost always a better deal in Korea.

Bangkok puts Manila to shame as far as shopping goes.

The whole planet puts Manila to shame in every category.

Go to Cebu. Might be the same country but it is a world apart.

Does this include sunglasses as well? Let's say an Oakley would be cheaper over there?
