10 years at the same job? University? And where are you located where you've got mountains and beaches?

Yep. Public school. I'm required to switch schools within the district every 3 years but its the same supervisors & essentially the same job. I'm in Sokcho on the NE coast in Gangwondo.

Some luck, but my location was a considered choice & I've worked a fair bit for what I've got.

How much you making? I was under the impression public schools don't pay above the 2.2 range...I hope to god you haven't been content with making that awful salary for 10 years.

Why not share with us how much you make? People are curious. What's the harm in sharing your salary with strangers on the internet?

Well its a private question where I am from and I can understand him not wanting to share such details online with a bunch of strangers.

If he posts a salary that's lower than yours, then at best it's quaint and nice in a bit of a condescending sort of way. At worst, he will be called a loser and ridiculed for not making more.

If he posts a salary that's higher than yours, then it makes people jealous so they brand him a liar, stalk his posts to give random drive-by insults, call him a troll, etc. Then many things he writes about his normal, everyday life is construed as "bragging" by the many petty losers on this site. Twisted Evil

Your impression is wrong
http://www.korvia.com/index.php/epik-salary-factor.html

As we can see the top payscale is 2.7 million.

Typically that is for 22 classes per week and extra classes are paid at 20,000 won per class.

Let's say you have about 6 extra classes a week...slightly more than one extra class a day. That can add about a half million to your payscale per month putting you at 3.2 million a month. With eight extra classes (putting you at 30 which decent hakwons offer) you are looking at 3.4 million per month.

For GEPIK it is slightly lower at 2.5 million per month...although if you choose to go rural you can get 2.6 million...and that is before extra classes which can put you around the 3 million mark.

I don't know anything about the PS system, but....if a NET has been in the system for a while he will be the number 1 guy, if he is the number one guy there must be some kind of cash incentive.

Ha, ha, ha. If going on about having six cars and putting pictures of the keys and documents up on a website for TEFL teachers isn't bragging, I'd love to know what in your mind actually does constitute bragging on an internet forum.

I do believe that was in reply to people questioning HIM about his salary and then claiming that he was lying about it.

It's one thing to come on to a forum and say I have six cars...it's quite another to reply to a question and (then when accused of lying about it) provide proof.

So someone asked him what his salary was and he said he had six cars? If you can think of a way of volunteering the information that you own six cars on a forum for TEFL teachers (which he did) without it being bragging, you're as much in denial as him.
