The second movie is also a romantic comedy about a man that has to marry a girl that doesn't want to marry him. She's in high school and he ends up becoming her teacher... also, many funny scenes.

The first movie is about a woman that is released from prison, meets a man on a train, and through a various amount of lies ends up portraying herself to his family as his fiance (he has a real fiance). It's a romantic-comedy...

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring (definitely not out on DVD yet, but this will probably be the movie that everyone should have)

Is on dvd and has been for sometime

Really?
This one?
The Metacritic website says "Theatrical release: April 2, 2004" Confused
I guess that's an international release date rather than a Korean one?
Have you seen it? How is it?

Attack at the Gas Station was just plain stupid. The ending made me want to pour hot candle wax on my eyeballs.

Couldn't agree more.

Some people would have us believe that this movie is full of irony and cutting social commentary on Korean society and so is an anti-establishment Korean masterpiece; Those people should be forced to sit in a corner and wear pointy caps with the word 'dunce' written on them.

Here are my recommendations:

- My Sassy Girl [yeobgijeokin geunyeo] (the best Korean movie I've seen yet)

- The Classic [keullaesik] (good plot, great story)

- Scent of Love [gukhwaggoch' hyanggi] (another good romantic drama)

- Friend [ch'ingu] (a story of a group of friends, some of them become gangsters)

- Wet Dreams [mongjanggi] (pretty funny sex comedy; reminiscent of American Pie)

- Spy Girl [geunyeoleul moreumyeon ganch'eop] (another amusing flick worth watching

"Sex is Zero" is possibly the worst movie that I have seen in my life. The movie would change between slapstick comedy and cheap Korean melodrama at a moments notice.

The movie had been called the Korean "American Pie". Therefore, I expected it to be about a bunch of High School kids. Apparently Koreans don't start experimenting with sex until University. Confused

I couldn't agree more. I remember leaving the DVD Bang feeling like I needed a shower because I was bent right over and raped by that horrible movie. Never in all my years have I felt that way after watching a movie - it was like "Leaving Las Vegas" + "I Spit On Your Grave" x 10.

I've been really hesitant to see another korean "comedy" after this molestation since i'm pretty sure any korean movie labeled "comedy" is in actuality a "romantic-comedy-drama-vagina movie" in disguise.

I thought "Attack the Gas Station" was a riot - big, dumb, fun.

I also think that "Beat" (and its incredible popularity) tell you pretty much all you need to know about the Korean mind, at least in that point in time.

And "Friend" and "Oasis" are great films, by any standard. Oasis in particular is bolder than any movie to come out of Hollywood in recent years.

For those of you in Toronto, Korean movies can be found at Suspect video and Queen video. Some hunting in Chinatown will provide you with all kinds of Korean DVD's at reasonable prices but suspect pedigree.

yeah, kinda bored me to tears... had real high expectations. Mun Sori is a great actress, she did an excellent job as the girl with cerebal palsy in Oasis. And for a heads up the new film "The Presidents barber" will be showing with english subtitles in Chongro from May 5th
