"Chad from Canada"
Hey, I know him!
Seriously though, if you have a reputable online degree they shouldn't disclose whether it's online or not. That's what my uni's policy is any.
As for exit/entry stamps/ records from immi - maybe those could be forged...after all they only use a pretty simple stamp.
My Uni is in England and I'm from Ireland so I don't get stamped by British Immi. We're supposed to register as a resident if we stay more than 3 months but with the close ties between britain and ireland that doesn't really fly either.
Point is, there are ways around it if you really try. |

That's great....just great.
I am sure we will be reading about you one day in the "we can't make crap like this up" section of the Marmot. |

Interesting news about the unacceptability of online grad degrees in Taiwan. They've latched onto something there - I wondered how that issue was going to unfold.
These days there are a few teachers with fake undergrads who then got themselves through an online Masters. They're marching around the place with Masters Degrees, never having graduated from an undergrad program. I think it's one reason some outsiders still see the ESL/EFL profession as a bit of a joke, despite there also being a good number of well qualified people working in it. |

Yeah. it got really bad there and that's why the government had to step in and start investigating EFL teachers' credentials. My buddy, who is professor at a Taiwanese university, once commented that fake M.A. degrees among foreign teachers in the 1990s were nearly as common as fake Louis Vuiton handbags and wallets.
A lot of them were just getting their documents made up on Kaosan Road and then coming over to Taiwan to teach. CELTA, M.A. and Ph.D degrees were bought in Bangkok and then they'd come to Taiwan to land university faculty positions. Over the years, a lot of EFL teachers have been found out to be using these fraudulent documents. And I suppose that they still do! But mainly at the buxiban (hogwan ) level since the MoE doesn't get involved with foreigners teaching in the private sector.
I bet China has a ton of teachers using fake degrees also. |

Just a guess, but I've seen some schools try to snag teachers as cheaply as possible. Usually, this bites them in the backside later. They get lots of apps, choose the best from the list, hold interviews, hire, then find that the teacher leaves them for a better-paying position they qualified for a few weeks later.
Also, lowballing with salary tends to scare-off decent candidates who know they can do better.
Basically, the schools end up getting what they deserve.
Make a list of the lowest-paying schools now. I'll bet you most of them will be frantically hiring in a month and placing new ads. |
I think that many of us even if we are not looking for a new position still read the job ads just to see "what's up". And what you said about the ones univs. pick go elsewhere, if you have been following univ. ads, some of the first ones to come out several months ago have recently reopend their searches. |
