Hello!
I was just offered a job to teach at the Bambini school in Chuncheon and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this school? I would really love some feedback on not only what the school was like, but also what living in Chuncheon was like. Any response would be greatly appreciated!

I would not recommend living in Chuncheon. I lived there for 9 months and it was really boring. I'm from a boring, planned, wealthy suburb of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Chuncheon reminded me of the Korean version of that. Just a boring suburb out in the middle of nowhere. My boyfriend liked it because he found friends but the foreigner community there is small and tight-knit. I found it to be gossipy and immature for the most part. There are nice people but the overarching feeling is that it is cliquey and gossipy. Chuncheon has some charms about it but I'd say reserve that for a few days of visiting, not living for a whole year.

I lived in Tallahassee, FL for 4 years during university and loved it. I decided that Chuncheon was an okay location before I knew anything about Korea because I figured that Chuncheon and Tallahassee had similar population densities so I figured the city sizes and feels would be similar. What I didn't know is that a city of 300,000 in Korea is not the same as a city of 300,000 in America. I'd say for the feel of a city in Korea, cut it by half or more than half and then stick that city in America.

I don't have all terrible things to say about Chuncheon, though. It could definitely be worse. But if you have a choice, I would say live in Seoul or urban Gyeonggi-do.

PM me if you have any more questions. I can answer really anything about Chuncheon - the good and the bad. I didn't like living there because it was too small and boring for me but it IS undoubtedly a lovely place with some lovely cafes, restaurants, and parks. It has all modern amenities and dak galbi, Chuncheon's signature dish, is one of the best dishes in the world, in my opinion.
