I heard from a recruiter that the turn around time for apostilles from DC is taking around 8 weeks. Can anyone confirm this? They don't answer phones and aren't answering my emails. I've done everything via overnight.

Yup. Either use a courier or walk it in yourself if you need it fast.

someone recommended me this courier service: http://www.uslegalization.com/korea/

I've never used it, but I'll be giving it a try soon.

What if I need to get my CBC apostilled? If the CBC is only good for three months after it is issued, and it takes two months to get it apostilled, does that mean I only have one month to find a job?

Your CBC is good for 6 months from date of issue, unless it has changed over the past month.
Earlier advice to either go to DC yourself or hire a courier service is really your best bet--mine took about 10 weeks.
Sending express really doesn't make much of a difference when your documents end up spending weeks on someones desk! Sad
Good Luck!

The same day if you show up at the state department in Washington.

I used a courier service. Was $150 but definitely worth it, in my opinion.

Yup I think its roughly a 8-10 weeks turnaround. Your best bet if possible is getting it done in person, that's what I did, was in and out of the place in under 20 minutes.

If you've seen the size of the place you'll understand why it takes them so long to get your paperwork returned. It's a tiny office about the size of a dentists office located in the middle of a strip mall.

You should not mail it to the Department of State. You should authorize a courier company to take care of it for you. Or, you should take a bus or plane to D.C. and do it in person. Mailing it takes a long, long time. By the way, I initially mailed mine and then showed up in person to extricate it. They gave it to me. I waited for an hour and a half and got mine back.

I used a courier service http://www.rushdocs.com/ it was cheap only $30 + international mail to Korea priority 6-10 days for $16, or express 3-5 days for $30.

The turn around time was just one day to get it apostilled.

Unfortunately, I don't think I will get the job anyways. I'm on the waiting list for the TaLk program.

Nothing against TALK, but is this really the market we're in?

I second the http://uslegalization.com/ route for US citizens. I just used them this week for my FBI cbc Apostille, the turn around time was one business day and it cost $45. Plus I paid $30 for my return UPS envelope, overnight service.

Well, I got mine back. The total time it took was from 1/11 - 1/23, just two weeks! Not sure if including a Fedex overnight return envelope helped.

Fedex does help because it's easier to track it, and, I would say, they're more likely to process something that was sent Fedex.
In addition, it can take 2-3 weeks if there isn't a major rush. That's quite possible. This isn't the peak period for going for jobs when compared to the summer.

tonysaur I am in the same boat on the waiting list. This may be a silly question but this is number two application for me and I really thought I had it, but then I was told I needed an additional letter of rec, when I provided it I got put on this waiting list and was left to count the days....have you been accepted by chance? Have you known anyone who has actually been accepted or is that the polite method of saying, 'Jog on!'?.
I am preparing for application attempt number three and sent for my FBI CRC in mid december so I would be prepared better this time.
