Thinking of getting an upgrade on my phone but don't like Apple 'cos of their lack of care of work standards for those who assemble them in China. Considering a Galaxy SII or whatever it's called, but KT currently have a cheaper phone that looks the same but has 'Take' as a brand name. I think the store worker or someone said they're Japanese, but I can't find any info. on them online. Anyone know about them, or have one, or played with them even, and can compare them to one of the other big brands out there? |

The Nexus is a Samsung phone. I've never heard of it but I'm guessing the 'Take' is just a version of the Samsung Nexus.
As of yet there are no Japanese made smartphones. |

Why guess if you've never heard of it? It has nothing to do with the Nexus and it's not made by Samsung.
The Take is made by KT Tech (Korean company) http://www.kttech.co.kr/
It may look similar, but there's a reason it's significantly cheaper. It has half the RAM and a slower, single-core processor than the Galaxy SII. It also runs Android 2.2 and does not appear to be upgradeable. Other than that it works as you would expect. It's a budget phone and would be a good choice if you want to save money. |

Because in the Tech forum the OP calls this phone the 'Take' Nexus. What's the chances of two smart phones being sold in Korea being called the Nexus?
You're right in that this phone is not Samsung. It's just that the OP called it a Nexus so I was misled. |

Yeah, my mistake with remembering it incorrectly; showing my lack of knowledge of the field.
Thanks for the replies, guys. That's helpful.
It raises a good question though: IS it 'significantly' cheaper? It is definitely cheaper, certainly, but i still have no idea as to whether the value of the older lower grade technology is fairly reflected in the price.
They did let me play with one switched on, and i was able to access a YouTube clip of my choosing very quickly, and was impressed at how easy it was even in Korean (and you can guess how bad my Korean skills are now).
It does look like a good entry-level option into the world of 3G, for sure. I think for the field of education, it's the way of the future, and so I do want to be able to check anything I put online for my students, but prefer to use a full keyboard and monitor, and have a netbook anyway.
So, I'm still interested in hearing from anyone who has experience using something like a Samsung and/or owning or playing with a Take. Thanks for any more sharing of info. or experience. |

According to today's wiki page on the Galaxy, they have the same RAM, the same camera specs., and according to previews the KT Take Janus has a dual core.
Can't find any info. on the battery. Would like to know if it's removable/ replaceable, and USB capability too.
And why there's so little info. available (in English) online. There's no mention of it on the wiki smartphone comparison page. Is that because it's only available in Korea or something? |

Sure, but you asked about the Take. The Take Janus is the high end model. Of course it's better, but the price is just about the same as the Galaxy S2. And yes, the batteries are removable and replacable.
