So According to the pension office. I have my first two years of pension paid by the public schools. The money is there and availible. However, the next year on the same visa after transfering a few times(long story), some companies did not participate in the pension scheme.

Can I still collect my PS job pension when my current contract ends? I called and the lady inferred they might have to hunt down the other non-contributing companies first.

Also, I heard they can now transfer the money to your Korean bank account when you leave and finish your Visa.

How long was your wait for your the refund? Can I speed up the process becuase I'm investing in a property and need cash fast.

Numbers were mine for clarity.

1) yes, provided you are leaving Korea and your visa is canceled.
2) possibly but, unless you fuss over it, unlikely.
3) Always could with the proviso in #1.
4) about 30 days after they confirm all your contributions have been collected (could add up to 90 days) and you have left the country.

.

Is it possible to check your pension balance prior to leaving?

Call the office or check the website: it's in korean, but the login works fine for foreigners.

Someone mentioned in another thread that you can collect your pension at the airport on the way out if you notified the pension office in person and signed the papers there.

if there are outstanding contributions needed from your former employers the pension office will not release ANY of the funds to you while they try and get those funds. It took 6 months before my former boss paid the last 1.6 million he owed. In the meantime I had no access to the funds that were already in the account.
