Does anyone know of a place that sells decent maple syrup for a non-ridiculous price? I just spent 14,800 on a 250mL bottle...which is ridonkulous. I know it's asking for a lot. Just curious though |

I only know of Home Plus and Costco and it's pretty crazy prices. Mostly because there's no maple trees here. I grew up in New Hampshire so it's particularly depressing for me. We used to make it in high school. Just can't do the fake stuff! |

Nonsense, there are plenty.
But I havent seen domestic maple syrup. In spring, some Koreans drink the unprocessed sap as a health drink. |

Costco is probably your best bet.
It's still not cheap, but there is a box of 6 x 250 ml for around 35-40k.
Or there's a big jug for about the same price that works out to be a little cheaper per ml, but is a big jug.
Once you get over the shock of dropping ~40,000 won on maple syrup, it's a fairly good deal compared to the prices you usually find. |

It's not like maple syrup is way cheaper than this in North America. It's a very expensive product regardless, given that it's extremely labor intensive. |

Costco sells two brands (that I saw, possibly more) of maple syrup.
One is a box of six 250ml bottles (1.5L). It's Number 1 Medium Canadian maple syrup and cost 37,000 won.
They also sell the Kirkland maple syrup in a 1.8L size. The cost is around 40,000 won.
It's also worth noting that the price per volume for the Kirkland bottle is only 3-8 dollars more than you pay back in the U.S.
And finally, as it has been said, Costco is a much better price than you'll find many other places. |

Well, it depends where you are in North America. The price fluctuates a lot depending on whether it is produced in your region or not. I usually get maple syrup from my uncle (he's a producer).
In any case, 6x250ml for 35000won is not as good a price as I pay back home, but it's still fair. One 250ml bottle will set you back 15$ at the duty free shop at Lester B. Pearson in Toronto.
My problem is not the price, it's the syrup itself. It's very thin and light. It's practically flavourless. I prefer the darker stuff. |

I'm from Western New England, so it's not as if there are big transportation costs back home. Costco syrup is still cheaper there, however, despite local production. I assume it's more an issue of economies of scale. As you say though, the quality is lower. |
