I am leaning toward the public schools in the 2012-2013 school year. I am wanting to work with a recruiter unless there is a better solution. Therefore, who is a dependable, trustworthy, experienced recruiter? I am a certified elementary teacher working for public schools in the US for the last six years. |

If you're applying to EPIK, apply direct.
You'll probably get your placement results before people who use recruiters & people who've applied direct have said EPIK coordinators have been helpful.
There's a 65 page thread on the Spring 2012 EPIK process so pull up a chair , get comfy , & read / learn from the mistakes of others.
The orientation for Fall 2012 EPIK is in mid August & applications open on April 1st, I believe. The most time consuming document will be your FBI CBC , which is only good for 6 months. It usually takes about 8-9 weeks to get that , but I have read about people getting it back in 7 weeks recently. DO THAT FIRST! & Get 2 copies of your prints & a back-up FBI CBC.
I got mine in 6 weeks, but I emailed my congressman after the 5th week & he pushed it through for me.
You'll also need to send your FBI CBC to DC to get apostilled so that will take time, unless you drive to DC , but if you do, get there early in the morning or you'll sit for a few hours in the waiting room as countless bicycle couriers get their documents before you. The office closes at noon & they make the DMV look like a well oiled machine.
Good luck |

and you are too late for the 2012-13 school year. The new academic year starts March 2 and EPIK closed applications on Dec. 1. They may have an intake for August 2012 - mid-terrm replacements. Keep watching their website.
But seriously... if you are a certified teacher why, in Ghods name, would you want to work as an assistant English teacher in EFL.
Look at the international school scene. Go to a job fair.

The pay is usually better. The working conditions are usually better. The benefits packages are better. It is the job you were trained for.
