Tried the IPA at Craftworks and was disappointed.

Does anyone know if the Platinum microbrewery is still open in Gangnam, or is it only in Apgujung?
Also do they still do the all you can drink special?

Cheers.

And I had one yesterday and thought it was alright. I'm no beer snob, but it was a bitter drink. At 6.8%, it'll knock lightweights around, but I wasn't ecstatic about the 6K price tag.

I have to admit some bias, though. It's close to home for me!

I wouldnt recommend Craftworks for their brunch, we just waited over an hour for pancakes and an omlette and walked out after getting a bunch of bs answers from the staff where our food was, really disappointed how we were treated today, management needs to get more staff on sundays

Ditto. It was flavorful, sure, but much of that flavor was just really, really bitter. And I normally love IPAs, too... maybe Dogfish Head just spoiled me. Sad

There's a place that sells microbrews in Sinchon called 악어를 풀어놔봐 (Free Crocodiles). I haven't been there in ages but I still see the sign so it must still be in biz.

Anyone have directions to this place?

Also I was wondering - according to the link posted below, the Platinum Microbreweries are closed. Can anyone confirm this?

http://wiki.galbijim.com/Platinum

Also, if they aren't closed - I read that the location for the Gangnam one is actually Gangnam-gu Office exit 8 and NOT Gangnam as listed on many websites, is this true? And is there any difference between the two locations?

Apparently at some point there was a Hofbruhaus (world-famous historical brewery in Germany) in Seoul but it does not seem to exist anymore. Anyone have any information this?

Coolasice - I went looking for the Platinum microbrewery in Apgujeong (Gangnam gu station) with my girlfriend but it wasn't there. They must have closed.
Instead we went to Gangnam and went to two microbreweries there. One is Oktoberfest and I can remember the name of the other one.
Hope this helps and spares you the wasted trip we made.

I se to visit Gwangju often. But not as much for the past year or so. But I know there was a German bar in Geumnamno near Mike and Dave's speakeasy. Guy went to Germany for a couple of years to learn his craft.

Thanks. I've been to the Oktoberfest in Hongdae which was awesome, but I'd like to try something new. How was the other place compared to Oktoberfest and do you remember how to get there? Even directions to the Oktoberfest would be helpful.

Coolasice - My memory is pretty poor but i'll give it a go. To go to Oktoberfest in Gangnam go to Gangnam station on line 2 (green line). Go out exit 5. Walk straight and keep looking down each side street on your right. My girlfriend found it for us. It's basically the same as the one in Hongdae though so if you live nearer Hongdae i'd stick to going there.

The other microbrewery in Gangnam is really close to Oktoberfest. For this one you go out of exit 6 of Gangnam station. You take the first left and there should be a big club there (Club Mass???). Across the road from the club there is a microbrewery downstairs. They only had dunkel and weizen when we went but they had a weekday evening deal of all you can drink for 10,000w.

There is another micro-brewery in Hongdae called the Queens Head. It is on the same road as FF. There's also Castle Praha in Hongdae.

Don't go to the home brewers parties at Oktoberfest. They never share any of their beer with you. Crying or Very sad

How was the food at the other microbrewery no one seems to know the name of? I'm debating whether we should get food somewhere else first or just eat there.

Does anyone have an updated list of microbreweries/brewpubs in Seoul? I visited a few of them last summer, but would be very interested to see a complete list.

I don't know much about microbreweries, but this article was fairly recent, so they should still all be there:
