I tried e-mailing TeachEnglishInKorea.org about a month ago and when I asked them about applying for SMOE this year they replied:

Does anyone have any more information about this? ReachToTeachRecruiting is apparently already recruiting for Fall 2012, while the question I asked was about Spring 2012. |

Right now, everything is in flux. Gyeonggi's department that handles budgets recently cut out everything for foreign teachers. Schools were left scrambling to cover what they could or wanted to keep. Big cut backs have been announced in different districts.
This is an election year. The current administration was the one really pushing TEE and getting a FT in every school. He's been in office for 5 years. If the opposition replaces him, a rollback on his education policies is quiet possible. So, how do you plan ahead now?
The current head of SMOE won as an opposition candidate. Most of the news has been about his effort to get free lunches and end physical punishment of students, but SMOE has been dramatically changing the ESL field too... |

I wonder if you caught that article that SMOE was not renewing over 500 teachers. |
