Well, that's more of a phobia I guess.

Forrest Gump, artistically, was a mediocre at best film.

But being there with a bunch of Baby-Boomers in the theater, including my parents, and seeing their reaction when Forrest embraces Jenny in the Reflecting Pool makes it impossible for me to hate the film. Everyone at that point was thinking about the couple they knew that didn't get that moment because the boyfriend was killed in Vietnam (or had the blessing to experience the homecoming embrace). Something you can't really hate on or argue with. After the movie my parents lectured me on that moment. The movie wasn't for me, it was for them.

It was like "Saving Private Ryan". Artistically that film was meh (technical execution of D-Day aside), but seeing the reactions of veterans after watching it means you can't be too harsh.

The reaction of non-American D-Day veterans to the film might have been a bit harsh as it was yet another example of an America won the second world war single handedly movie.

Titanic does not not really belong in this thread IMO as, although it won heaps of Oscars, there were plenty of people slagging it off at the time. I don't think i've met a single bloke who's admitted to liking it for example.

Olives. I hate them so much that foods where I pick them out (like pizza) is inedible to me because it still has a slight taste.
