|
|
Hello~
I need to get set up with a cellphone.
I've spoken to a few people that
have had very poor service from the "service" providers. Quite discouraging.
I'd like an inexpensive set up that will work well to call
abroad as well as locally.
Has anyone got a suggestion for :
1. What company to use.
2. What phone(I want a basic, not interested in the I/smartphone apps. stuff)
3. How to call to Vietnam/Europe/America most inexpensively?
4. Where is there a store that will set me up properly?
5. Should I get a pay as you go plan? I will retain my home line.
** I've been using Jajah.com to call foreign countries, but have found that
the quality of these calls has deteriorated to the point of being worthless.
Is there another more affordable/good quality calling service/method for international calls that you prefer?
(yes, I use Skype for video calling)
I'm thinking of getting a "pay as you go" plan and using international calling cards. Who , what , where do best I set up this type of deal?
Thanks.

The best way to call overseas, hands down, is simply 02-1688-5959. It's some type of switchboard/routing/who knows.
All I know is I call, she speaks in Korean for about 5 seconds asking for your number, and I call America (you can call any other country) with a +1-area code- seven digit number. Wait a few seconds and ring ring.
Works like a charm every time.
The only cost: your cell phone minutes. NO international fees. |

I did buy some calling cards from American websites and used them a couple of times. I believe you can use google for free to make calls to the U.S. If you really want calling cards, you can buy some in Itaewon. You could consider buying a few when you're in Seoul. They'd last you a while. However, you'd have to have a prepaid phone. I am thinking of getting a plan. |

Honestly, I have no idea. Another teacher at my school told me about it when I first moved here. She didn't give me much background either, I just know it works wonderfully. |

if you try to get an unlocked smartphone, prepaid minutes if you don't use your phone much to call someone (ask people to call you instead since it's free), and skype for international calls (it's cheap imo). Data plan on a prepaid might be the kicker though. |
