I dunno if this is the right forum, but anyway;

Anyone know any Korean debt recovery agencies or debt collection lawyers, or how I can find a reliable company that corresponds with Australian debt collection agencies?

A Korean couple just made off with thousands of dollars from a secondary school in Victoria, Australia, and have returned to Korea, thinking they can get away with it. Well, I don't want them to get away with it.

I'm in Oz for the moment.

Thanks in advance!

Not to condone criminal activity, but the gangsters would probably be the most effective.

As mentioned above, gangsters will do it - not legal but an option.

Otherwise you have NO legal option to collect.

There is no legal means for chasing civil matters (small claims at that) across international boundaries.

Korea will NOT recognize a court proceeding in another country (no jurisdiction).

Korea will not allow a civil case against them IN Korea for civil matters that did not occur in Korea.

A Korean citizen is not extraditable for a civil matter (or even a non-capital criminal case (theft)).

If you know where the people are you either go there yourself or get someone you trust (bonus points if they are extra intimidating) and "kindly" ask for the money back...or else.

They might skip out on your again, so I suggest at the very first meeting you don't let them out of your sight until you get the money. If that means squatting their place then so be it.

Best line ever.

I was thinking the same with gangsters. In the end if they are in another country they are out reach. Still how do you find a gangster to collect, it is not like you can open the yellow pages or google them?

If you want to keep legal. Try the bull pucky baffles brains route. Have a in Korea, Korean lawyer draft a nice threatening letter to the couple. If they are not aware of the actual legal technicalities, they might cough up some money. People are afraid of lawyers and legal hassles.
