Hi

I'm due to do a visa run in 2 weeks but I have just noticed I may not have space in my passport.

I have one page that has just some scribbling from a bank when I sent money home back in 2005, apart from that - nothing. Will that page be OK ?

I have looked into getting an emergency passport, but will they be able to put the new E-2 visa in there considering the details I have supplied are from my full passport ??

Adding pages or just simply getting a new passport are not options as I am British and we don't do things like that (passports take 4 weeks via Hong Kong)

thanks for any advice...........

Probably not (cover up other marks in your passport).
Probably not (new visa in an "emergency passport").

If you are Canadian and you hustle your butt you may be able to:
a) get a new passport in about 20 days and
b) delay your visa run for a week.

You might also want to look at a transfer rather than a visa run if you are not on a tourist stamp.

hi

I am not Canadian and unfortunately I am on a tourist stamp (have to be out the country feb 6th)

I guess my only hope is reapplying with new emergency passport details and hope you can put work visas in them.

That or just pray that my semi free page is enough !!!!

Sorry I can't help, but I have a question...

How many blank pages do you need in your passport for a visa?

Some countries will provide you with a super fast passport if you provide travel details.

You can, as far as I'm aware, only get the fast-track or premium service (the latter takes 4 hours/next day depending on when you go) from within the UK as you need to appear at the passport office for an interview to get it (or send someone in your place, BUT you need to be in the UK for the passport to be processed). Hong Kong's embassy, which is the processing centre for Asia (or is it east Asia?)for UK passports, sends your passport application to the UK for processing because of the changes in the making of UK passports brought in last year so I doubt it's possible to get a super fast passport in this case. I recently replaced my passport at the Glasgow office. I had a new passport within 4 hours. OP, coming back to the UK might be your only option for getting a quick passport. I suppose it's worth contacting the passport office in Hong Kong to make sure about any other possibilities, though.

I know it doesn't help the OP, but for others' reference, if you are American you can have pages added to your passport at the U.S. Consulate wherever you are, usually in just a few days if you pay extra. They just tape some more in.

As for how many pages are needed for a visa:
Most countries want two facing pages (but I suppose they'd accept two blank pages) -- one for the full-page visa sticker and one for entry/exit stamps.

Some countries give you one full-page visa sticker for entry and then another for residency, each requiring a blank facing page for entry/exit stamps.

I had no joy so I need to get a new passport....

does that mean I have to re-apply for a new visa number , as my passport number will change ? Or can the visa number just be transferred to my new passport number when I get it ???

cheers

Why can't you take care of yourself?

I've gone through 3 passports and I never had to post it on Dave's ESL Cafe.
I just handle my business.

Go to the consulate. Complete the visa form. Give them a photo or two.
Pay the Fee. Finished ! Same number - new book. Jesus Christ. Oh, and there is express service and normal service for Heaven's sake.

Except the consulate and embassy don't offer passport services in Korea. There is no express service available for those outwith the UK. Was there really a need to be like that?

Plus, British passport numbers change from passport to passport...it's a vlaid question although not sure here is the most efficient place to get the answer...

Canadian passports also change numbers as well.

thanks for your input

"it's a vlaid question although not sure here is the most efficient place to get the answer..."

Yeah - you are probably right - it's just that it escalated from my original question.

All irrelevant anyway as I persuaded the Korean embassy in KL to put my E-2 on the page with the writing on it!!

cheers

Why do you need a new "emergency" passport? I was at the US Embassy in Seoul and I remember someone getting extra pages added. Do they not do this anymore or is the original poster in a country that doesn't do this?
