Actually the fare was 350 for a short trip back in the day, back when there were only 4 lines and line 2 was just a circle.

I agree that the elderly should pay to ride the subway (interesting how they have to pay for the bus, but not the subway. Anyone know why?), but it's still cheap. What surprised me just after the last fare increase was that some of my students (adults) complained that the subway was "expensive now." Really? They'd be in for a rude shock if they ever took public transit almost anywhere else in the world.

Yea, I remember when the predecessor to T-money first came out. It was a rechargeable subway card. Maximum amount was 10k. I used to be able to scoot all about Seoul to my private lessons, average five subways a day on 20,000 a week.

Cigarettes were only 800 won a pack for 88's back then too.
