The Department of English Language and Literature at Dongguk University in Gyeongju invites one native speaker of English for an assistant-level foreign faculty position in general English linguistics or English literature, beginning on March 1, 2012. This is a non-tenure track full time position, and contracts will be renewed every year based on class evaluations. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all levels of undergraduate courses and MA-level graduate courses. We are looking for a dedicated teacher who has a good record of teaching experience and a strong sense of responsibility.

BEFORE YOU APPLY, PLEASE CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
1) Apply only if you are in Korea. We are not considering applicants who are in foreign countries due to time constraint for the visa process.
2) Eligible applicants must be an E1 visa holder (or should be able to obtain an E1 visa by the time of appointment). We will not hire foreign applicants with other types of visa.

The above position is currently being advertised on this site. I don't think I've noticed a position that someone with an F-series visa cannot apply for? What is the reason for that? (I'm not an F-visa holder... simply curious.) Is it because it is easier (I guess) for an F-visa holder to leave the position during the contract?

By requesting someone who can get an E1 as a visiting professor they eliminate a lot of time from people who are not suitably qualified. I guess they were tired of weeding out the BA applicants and those with unrelated qualifications.

And they would probably accept an F2/4/5 provided they met the criteria for an E1 (no transfer of visa required) but would not be looking for people on E2,5,6,7,8,9,D1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 (unqualified and/or not able to be on the job within a short time frame or both).

There are very few jobs that an F2/4 cannot (legally) do and there are no employment restrictions on an F5.
