I know it's not new. But I'd never visited before.

So, sooo good.

I like Chili King as well. But I think the Hawaiian burger at Jacoby is the best I've had in Seoul.

(I have yet to sample the W Hotel's famed X-Burger.)

It's pretty great, though slow.

Mine are better and I can make it in 15 minutes(prep time and all) or less, Jacoby's takes what, 45 minutes? And, mine costs 50% less. Smile

since it got mentioned on a korean tv show it has really gone downhill and very few foreigners go there anymore as the place is always packed with koreans, last night there was a long line out the door.

all that for slow. mediocre food. go figure...

I read about Jacoby's rank as the top burger joint in Korea and gave it a go a few weeks ago. As hogwonguy said, it was packed with Koreans only. I got mine to go, and it took around 15 minutes. It was a very good burger, but it was oozing bun destroying juices and fell apart too easily. Due to that and the price, I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon. Also, even though I got mine to go, the staff seemed to be jerkoffs. But that's just my assessment. All in all, it was a good burger, good size, but eh, apparently it seems Jacoby's used to be much better at making burgers.

There is a pub in Ilsan called the Whiskey Weasel that for my money makes the best burgers i've had in Korea. I've tried them all and they all rock. And they even have a half price burger night on mondays.

Must vote Chili King over Jackoby's 99.9999 times out of 100.

Jackoby's has crappy service (I'm not even talking speed, I'm talking "Oh snap, I ordered another drink, and this guy behind the register is poppin' out the stink eye!") but they have at one point made a very good burger. If they're really throwing in the towel and going the way of Smokey Saloon, oh dear.

Sadly, I think that is exactly what is happening. My most recent trip to Jacoby's will probably be my last. The burger was pretty mediocre, and the place was packed with Korean dames taking pictures of their meals. That alone isn't a big deal, but it suggests to me the restaurant is heading the way of Smokey's (and needless to say, that is a terrible thing).

Well, well.

No question it was packed with Koreans, and it definitely was slow. But I found the patty flavorful and juicy, and while it did fall apart a bit, it wasn't greasy like so many burgers I've had in Korea.

They brought our fries and drinks almost immediately...and I kind of like waiting a bit. I like to linger over a meal, esp. when I travel so far out of the way for it. That's actually one of the things I find exasperating about some restaurants in Seoul...they are so fast, they don't pace themselves so you end up eating and leaving in 35 minutes...

I haven't been to Chili King for awhile. I'll have to go back soon so I can compare...maybe it is better, maybe I've forgotten.

All things considered: I would certainly go back to Jacoby. :::shrug:::

Craftworks and Sin Bin both have really good burgers as well, though they lack the selection you get at Jacoby.

I went to Jacoby's once and never went back. The food was just decent IMO (especially at that price). Order of fries 8,000 WON?!?

Best burger spot I've been to so far is Brooklyn Burger Joint. I've been to about 10 different burger places and BBJ was easily the best.

I have a good friend opening a new Burger Restaurant in Apgujeong, Rodeo St. in a month or so. I've had his burgers a bunch of times before, pretty confident his place is going to be one of the top places in Seoul soon for hamburgers!

Look out for his bibimbap burger...so good.

Alright, Adolf. I'm sorry that all these Koreans being in Korea ruined your 'unique' Korean experience for you. Sounds like it's time to leave for you. Be careful though - I've heard there's Koreans at the airport, too.
