Hey all,

Can someone recommend me a good place (or places) to buy some new threads and shoes? I'm looking specifically for new dress shoes and a few suits. I've heard that you can get handmade shoes in Dongdaemun (Nuzzon), but when I went there, the stuff seemed pretty cheap. But I'm pretty sure I wasn't looking in the right place.

I'd say my budget for suits is about 500-1000 USD per suit, and maybe 200 USD or thereabouts for shoes.

Also, where can one find nice jeans?

I've hit up the Zara already...spent plenty of money there. As a fallback, Zara is good. But if I can get some other places to invade, I'd be so happy... Smile

Banana Republic in Apgujeong.

Personally, I get my suits from the department store. I got a Samsung Galaxy, one from Cambridge, and a couple other nice ones.

2 suits, 4 shirts and a couple of ties thrown in for good measure.
Custom made. Choice of fabrics.

Buy a ticket and go to BKK. $400-500 at any reputable tailor in the Kingdom.
(double that price and 1/2 the quality if you buy it on KS Road, Phatpong or Sukumvit).

I have NEVER had good luck or good results from a tailor in Korea.
I do like the some tailors in Cebu as well. Manuel Torreon in Lapu-lapu is excellent.

If you want a shiny suit, shop in the department stores, can be found in the central Jeong-no ("downtown") area. Lotte, Shinsaegae, etc.

Most Korean suits and dress shirts are slim fit. If you have the body style for them then it won't be a problem.

Itaewon does do decent custom suits for their prices.

Remember that an XL here in Korea would be about a 110.

I've started getting stuff tailor made. Nothing compares to having your clothes made to your exact specifications.

I found shirts to be hard to find here. They were either too tight on the shoulders, chest and arms or too long.

So I just started getting them made.

I like loose, light blue jeans too and the styles in the stores these days all seem to be narrow fit and dark blue.

So I'm gonna see if my tailor will make jeans for me too.

You gotta bully em down on the price though...

I hear the best place to get tailored suits is Vietnam. YOu could fly there, get 3-4 suits + dress shirts + coats + plane ticket is cheaper than buying in Korea.

I know the title says "In Korea" but for the price you can't discount going to another country.

You could try CULTIZM in Apgujeong (http://www.nudiejeans.com/stores/cultizm-korea/#/). Their fits are mainly dark, slim styles. If you know the brand, they stock a lot of Nudie which is becoming quite popular these days (in Seoul at least).

There's a map (in Korean) and pics of the store on their website http://cultizm.co.kr/front/php/b/board_read.php?board_no=1&no=12

For that amount just go to a department store. Try the event sales to save money.

If you have a car you could go to one of the outlet malls and buy Zegna, Brooks Bros, etc. for around the amount you want to spend.

I go there to try on sizes. Then I buy it online and have my family ship it over. I refuse to pay 100,000won for a shirt that can be bought for $30 in the US.

a.p.c.'s are about the same price here and a much better denim imo. they have a couple shops in the apgu area and they just opened one up in hongdae last year.

these are the best pair of jeans i've ever owned. perfect fit (not baggy, not too slim) and the denim has held up for repeat use for 2+ years.

One should remember that the UK based ASOS http://www.asos.com ship worldwide for free, and often have some amazing deals, especially when you use discount codes like these: http://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/asos.com. =D

p.s. I know this seems like spam, but I have been using this company for years and they are great.
