Came up with an informal poll. For the record, I am at a 4.

I think the most basic level of familiarity is to be able to recognize whether the current popular song being blasted 24/7 outside every gym and phone store is an imitation of Lady Gaga or Britney Spears.

I can't name them all, but T-ara now has seven members.

I'm ashamed to be at #2. Ironically it was because of my Army experience.

I'm glad they only copy off the most mainstream American music. I was terrified of the idea of Reggaetton jumping off here (glad it hasn't), and now I've got my fingers crossed for Korean dubstep to never come into existence.

already happened. I heard a Dubstep breakdown in a K-POP song. No idea what the act/song name was though...

Dubstep died when the American producers discovered it imo.
Croydon!!

NOOOOOO!! I think I died a little inside. I hope I never hear it or I might be tempted to shoot myself in the ears.

K-pop will take a beat or sample from whatever is cool at the moment, but I doubt they'll be copying full on dubstep. Most of it is too dark and aggro for them.

Yeah, I'm surprised dubstep suddenly caught on in America to the extent it has. It'll die a quick death or shape shift a bit more. I still like it from time to time. Blame Skrillex? I think he and some others overcooked it a bit. Actually, to hear him obliterate a K-pop song could be funny but might make make me want to hurl too.

I think 1 is still a little too high for me or anyone I know, and I've been in country for longer than some K-pop groups have been walking...

I'd say you need a "0 - Able to recognize K-pop and quickly change the channel before it becomes offensive"

You're thinking of Bubble Pop - Hyuna. And I agree with you about dubstep, Skrillex is awful.

Well, you don't have to like K-pop to be at #1.

Originally I tried to put in a 0, but apparently you are limited to 10 options on polls. Sad

Come on though! How could you resist the infectiousness of K-Pop, like this little diddy:
