In May of 2011, I got a job in Korea, but the contract was cancelled within a month's time. I didn't even get an ARC. I didn't run away. I'm in the process of getting an E2 to join EPIK in March. Will there be a problem? I should tell the consul that I've gotten an E2 before, right?

So, you did get an E-2 with the contract that was cancelled?

I believe it gets a little complicated at this point if you did. If the contract was canceled before they applied for your visa, it is no problem, but if you did get the visa, it will take more.

You might have to get the visa transferred or canceled and they might hold you up some wanting to know why...

I'm pretty sure I did get the visa. Should I call the sonsulate to see what I can do?

I would, and if you are going through a recruiter, let them know, or if your contact is EPIK, let them know.

I just emailed my recruiter about it, and I'll call on Monday.

As far as I'm aware, the visa will only be an issue if you were physically issued with a visa and/or ARC. No issues, OP. Process the application.

Look in your passport. If you got the visa it should be there.

Did you actually come to Korea to work? If so, you probably used the visa to enter Korea. Otherwise, if you entered without a visa, you were working illegally.

If you never got a visa, then you have no issues.

If you got a visa but never came to Korea, then the visa was never used and expired after 90 days. So, no issues.

If you got the visa, came to Korea and worked, and then left, then your visa may or may not have been cancelled. If you had gotten your ARC and handed it in on your way out your visa would have been cancelled or your employer could have cancelled your visa:

a) If your visa was cancelled, then you have no problem.

b) If your visa was not cancelled, then you may have to wait until it expires to get a new one.

If you came to work in Korea with no visa, then you worked illegally, so you should not mention this prior job to anyone.
